I changed a brake light bulb today. About as demanding as it gets with a Toyota. They do use a weird brake light bulb though.

was my Mother's rear bulbs on her 2002 Camry recently. wicked annoying because there is more than 1 bulb uses back there & a cpl of them look exactly the same

The tail lamp on a MKII Yaris is pretty simple so no confusion with it. Was just a little miffed when I found it took a capless bulb rather than the bayonet type I was expecting, as that is what is used in just about every other vehicle I have worked on, and I had a few spares in stock. I had to walk over to the motor factors and buy the correct bulb.

I suppose I just never owned a Japanese car before.

Bear in mind I can't park outside my house so everything has to be carted to the car...and it's amazing just how much stuff you need sometimes.
Oil/ filter change, air filter replaced plus front pads done.
Pads first, jacked car up with my son's hydraulic Jack...hmm, it's a bit slow, probably low on oil but managed. Did the offside pads, went to put the wheel back on, it's dropped a bit, went to raise it again on the Jack....it's not having it. Go in my boot...no Jack. It hadn't occurred to me they wouldn't supply one (no spare tyre, just an inflator kit) . Phone my son (who lives 2 minutes walk away) to borrow his scissor jack and continue. Did the nearside...collected the old pads together...,bugger I missed an anti squeal shim. Wheel back off and rectify.
Oil changed no problem.
All of that took time, 3 hours....none of the brake pad stuff was difficult just wasted time going back to the first wheel, plus back and forth getting stuff, it's all time consuming when you don't have it all to hand.

Nice to have it all done, brakes tested, all good.
I noted up post I got 5 ltrs of Mannol oil for £15 which seemed to me to be really cheap. I know why now, its just expired on the lid. Doesn't bother me, its sealed and had just expired.

It wouldn't worry me about oil expiring. I've seen people use it 5 years after expiry. As long as it's not been sat outside in a broken container!

It depends on the car but the Yaris is straightforward to change bulbs in.

Do you use red candles at the rear? 🤔

I do recall now that the Ford Kia’s had some sort of engine issue back then ! Might be a big list of course !

The Ka used the really old Ford engine for a long time. They rust to bits is the major issue. MrsF's 99 Yaris is still going strong, if a bit tatty as it's not been looked after since we sold it many years ago.
