Maybe not used the dugga-dugga gun? too much torque applied quickly (as opposed to a gradual increase, can be all that's required to shear the studs.

Just been chatting to a neighbour. Apparently Halfords are selling Hammerite dirt cheap, the £15 tins for as little as £3. He tells me they're stocking Nitromors hammered paint instead and have reduced the last of the Hammerite to get it off the shelves.
Why ? Just curious.Hmm - they'd need to pay me £3 to take each tin away! - dreadful stuff, I wouldn't use it on anything.
Just painted some railings I made with Hammerite black...always seemed ok to me.The original Finnigans Hammerite was great.
Then the formula was changed and it wasn't good at all. And never seemed to properly harden and had relativrly poor adhesion.
Then a few years ago the formula was changed again, and it became good once more.

Red lead....!Back in my fabricating days, we always painted things with red oxide first, before using Hammerite.
Red lead....!
Wish I still had some of that 😁
You could tell who were Welders,Fabricators by their overalls covered in red lead paint when I was an apprentice, seems to be silicone nowadays !Remember as a kid my dad asking me to bring him the tin over, I went to pick it up thinking it was just a normal paint & could hardly lift it.
