Not strictly DIY but if anyone around the Rochdale area is looking for someone to tinker with their exhaust:laugh: you can't go wrong with T G Silencers(I have zero affiliation with them) they have provided fantastic service for myself and as of the past 7 days(initial fix and subsequent snagging for free(and a v low cost first outlay)). The downside is they rarely if every answer the phone and are always busy. :okay:

Yeap rusty as...

Front subframe holed, exhaust separated. Front chassis members rusty. Every nut on engine rusty.
Inverness car.

Going to PX it😢

Take it your Sons insured ?

If so I read a great method for sorting such cars on the internet recently.
Apparently you just release the flap on the side: and insert a lit object into the hole that appears 🤣

Seriously: Better ‘luck’ going forward ✅

“Cleaned” it ? 🤷‍♂️

Being an avid Detailer; and seeing as the weekend forecast was excellent - I thought I’d start and finish work early Friday and get the ‘start of year’ major clean done on the daily runner.

Managed to snow-foam, clean, de-contaminate, single stage machine Polish; and then polish and protect the headlights yesterday (Nearly 8 hours). And starting at first light this Morning: had the wheels off and cleaned / heat-proof waxed those, and got a couple of coats of Collinite sealant on the paintwork. So just over 5 hours today - and that’s the outside good for a few months .

I’ll tackle the inside tomorrow. Fresh caught Lowestoft Fish and Chips are calling…….

Last night son came over with his X3, when it's cold it's very sluggish in reverse, fine once warmed up, we suspect the oil needed changing, in the autobox, not too bad a job apart from the filling, with a manual pump. It now seems to change gear better but it was still sluggish this morning when cold, so we're not 100% where to go now.

Then today we changed the autobox oil on the Shogun, again not too bad a job, everything came off okay & you can use the engine to pump most of the oil out, it's supposed to be cherry red in colour, what we took out was almost brown, filling was a bit easier as you can do it from the engine bay.

Whilst laid under the car I noticed the NSF ABS sensor wire was rubbing on the CV boot, on closer inspection it had worn through the wires, soldered them back together but unplugging the connector I still don't get reading, so maybe the sensor is stuffed as well.

Changed the oil in the Yaris today and I wirebrushed and painted the front subframe as it had a bit of surface rust.

The filter is so tiny that my oil filter removal tool wouldn't grip it so had to improvise using an old cam belt and a pair of Vise Grips.

What I like about this car is everything looks as if it's very DIY friendly.

I also removed all my personal belongings from the Chezh Patient and took a few photos of it so I'll advertise it for parts or repair. It is pretty much perfect apart from developing a voracious thirst for oil and was given a clean bill of health by the test centre in all things apart from emissions. A new exhaust and good tyres all round. Surely someone could make use of it. If I'd actually liked it I would have put an engine in it.

Sadly we live in an era where people don't fix things any more.
