Did my own front brakes the other day for the first time, saved a few hundred quid. I do love you tube.

Also cleaned my dpf by pouring launch fluid into it, and revving engine. Afterwards, reset with scanner and everything 😎

Had a successful minor diy yesterday. My daughter's motobility car with less than 1000miles on the clock had a stuck petrol cover flap. You can imagine my panic when I realised that I couldn't open the flap.

Tried tugging the release lever, but each time I went round to the other side. It was still closed. Thought it was a broken or slack release cable, which would have been a nightmare.

So I got my OH to assist. She pulled the lever while I thumped and pulled the flap. With a bit of effort, got it open. Then we tested the release cable and yes that was working as it should. Then I noticed a little spring clip on the hinge, which should spring the flap open when the lever was pulled. The spring had been dislodged, so that the flap didn't pop out each time.

So just a little push to reset the spring and it was all working again.

Had visions of needing to use a crowbar, or calling out the RAC or booking it into the Susuki garage 15 miles away.

Thankfully none of that was needed and I was able to fill up with petrol.

They’re still pretty rubbish, BMW have failed to fix known problems over the years.
After the oil change the gearbox still has issues, very slow react if you try to reverse when cold, once warmed up it's fine, he called into a specialist in Sheffield today who reckons it's likely something has failed or about to fail in the box, £3.5k +vat Eeek!

Lexus recommend using their experts...............

I don't do any DIY on the car nowadays that involves jacking up and removing things, or laying on my back with dirt dropping on me, but at the last service at the garage, they said your front brake pads will need renewing before the next service.
They sent me a reminder which also said 2 new rear tyres will be required, I checked the tyres they will easily last until September (the next annual service) so I took the front wheel of to check pads, loads of life in them. I think they they have based there assumtion on us doing 18,000 a year and not the circa 4,000 we do, of course they know our annual mileage they service the car every year, I suppose it easy money for them if you don't question it.
