Well, write it down boy ......
120 miles minus age is a good one. I know people around eighty years old who can ride forty miles.

Personally, I've long been aiming for 150km minus age. That means 70km at eighty; a little harder than the imperial version. It does become a good bit more challenging than the imperial one beyond eighty though. I suspect 60km at ninety is .... a bit niche.

That's a good idea. So instead of the target becoming increasingly harder as you age, it stays at a level which feels achievable.

It doesn't matter how long the ride is, the last 15k is always a slog!

Even if the ride is only 14K long. 🤣

I rode 70 miles on my 70th birthday but that was coming up to 6 years ago. I used to mark all my milestone birthdays with long runs but switched first from miles to Kilometres and then from run to cycle just to make it achievable.

Now that is impressive
I was thinking that too!

The furthest I ever ran was about 10 km and that was over 40 years ago.

The last time I ran was in 2024, about 400 m to catch a bus, and that half killed me!

Easily, but I'm a young whippersnapper at 59. Doing the Dirty Reiver again in April and not looking forward to it again. Rode the 200k roses to wrags audax with an old guy of nearly 80 and he's still riding a bit now at 90.

Was that you in front of me on Sunday? I was out for a 10 mile run and, as I neared home, I caught and overtook a bloke on a bike.😂

Sounds like me, but I wasn't out on Sunday. I have been overtaken by a runner - going up the hill at crystal palace. I comfort myself with the possibility they might have been a proper athlete escaped from the stadium.
