I am talking about chlidren being carried in traffic on the back of an adult cycle at speed, not them playing on their toys.

Now answer my last question please regarding your 'experience' on both cycles and motorcycles ?

You have an uncanny knack of being unable to read the links that are given to you. Just looking at the pictures Sun reader style won't work. So let me quote the relevant bit to save you, God forbid, having to actually read it.

With 25% of families with two or more kids using a cargo bike to get around....

I owned motorbikes for many years, commuted daily on them and have ridden long distances - up to 8 hrs at a go - on them as well as cycling since I was a child and wearing a helmet from the mid 80's to early 2000 when I read the research and stopped wearing a cycle helmet. Now perhaps you could answer my question of how you are going to design something no helmet manufacturer has been able to design - a lightweight vented cycling helmet that meets the motorbike testing standards. We are waiting but fully expecting you to duck the question.

Here for rides.
Because you sweat too much whilst cycling for the lining materials and venting of a regular crash helmet which are designed to keep your head dry, and wind noise to an acceptable level at 70mph.

I've got an idea - when you have experience with both disciplines, and wearing both types for extended periods whilst riding , come back and debate this again. You might be able to do it on an equal level.....
I passed my motorbike test in 1977
I past my cycling proficiency test in the late 60's
I've worn both sorts of helmets for extended periods of time, have raced whilst wearing them, have crashed whilst wearing them and my experience tells me you are talking utter bollox.

Really, what motorbike did you have, and how long since you gave them up ?

I doubt that it is something that they 'can't' achieve, more so that the public are reluctant to wear them due to fashion and current cycle helmet styling trends which are determining what people want to be seen in.

The weight thing is a bit of a nonsense, my motorbike lid is very well balanced, and despite being very well lined for soundproofing and comfort still only weighs in at 1300grams including the visor, inner tinted visor and theeir mechanisms. I don't see why they couldn't get somethign like this down to 800grams with a bit of work to remove the stuff which would not be of benefit to a cyclist

Have you ever worn a modern carbon fibre crash helmet ?

The motorbike lids I wore in the early 80's were very heavy and hateful fibreglass affairs.
