"The T2 Carbon is t.h.e.'s new top-of-the-line carbon-fiber helmet. At just over 1,000 grams,....." and it still only meets the CE and CPSC standards. Not even the slightly more onerous Snell standards. So you have shown us you can make a cycle helmet that is heavy and meets the lowest cycle helmet standards. You haven't shown us anything about how you are going to get that weight down to be acceptable, the venting up to allow you to do more than go downhill in it and the protection up to the motorcycle standards you are calling for. Would you like to try again?

Please, no...

Worn a Bell Daytona for several hours, over several days, including one stint at utterly illegal speeds on a track day.

Yes, lighter than, say, an old Griffin Clubman but not an alternative to a cycle helmet, and nothing that could pass, say, ACU Gold, ever could be imo.

Well I work in design for a living, so I would 'never say never' - we are always looking at new materials, and techniques for improving performance.

Things will move on. Look what legislation did for the Prius argument at the end off the day..People bought into it didn't they. It would never have existed if not for California laws

I'll take it that your relevant experience is a figment if you are unable to supply specifics....

I'll take that as a frank admission on your part since this whole thread has been filled with you blanking out questions and not supplying specifics (or even anything at all). Your petard is just here.

How old are you and how long have you been riding a bike?

(I'm not really interested, but it seems de rigueur to ask on this thread)

I forgot to add that I won't be wearing a lid. I might, however, wear gloves. Perhaps Linf could come up with some kind of formula, involving pints of beer, numbers of children on the bike, tyre width, road conditions and "safety gear" so that we can calculate what is acceptable. For instance, if I wear a Sam Browne and only carry one child instead of two, can I have another three pints?

If you design cycle helmets or some other "safety" gear for a living, you ought to have declared an interest at the start of this thread. It's just as well you've no credibility to lose!

Please let him continue.... I'd happily buy and wear this mythical helmet when it eventually comes to market.
Why just a helmet? Surely this remarkable material justifies a whole body suit? And not just for cycling-

Here for rides.

As far as I know no law was passed compelling people to drive hybrids. (happy to be corrected)

So, we compel cyclists today to wear helmets that comply with current lame standards and that don't work effectively in the range of circumstances in which they are used in the hope that someone will then spot a gap in the market and come up with the miracle lid?
