Photos-on iPod and a big effort to get on, it's only standard, will do though when I upgrade a few bits.

Agreed with the saddle- perfectly adequate, but I also believe the bar tape is of some quality, no need of replacing straight away.

By cheap I mean £100 below depending on what it is.
Been looking at the schwalbe ultremos- save a few grams, look good, but do they perform????????????

As for affording a £900 bike while at school. I have a job that can pay £20-30 a week and have been doing it for 3 years now, the money soon rolls in when a roof and food is already paid for!!!!!!!

Maybe Q-rings. I'm using them on my road bike & I found that they make a difference, I climb on a 42 ring like I used to on a 39 ring.

Also looking at the san marco magma mg saddle, a carbon seatpost off a eBay only dealer.

Does anybody know where I can find some really light skewers, preferably not qr in White!!!! And a pair of White presta dustcaps!!!!

I can't find any anywhere, except the halo hex skewers, but at 80g you can buy lighter.

Much appreciated.

Just out of interest, are you going to be racing or is it just purely for leisure?

Oh, and don't go weight weenie and spend a lot on parts, because it's not a matter of if you will crash, it's when you will crash, it can be expensive to replace.

Want to race iAmiAdam.

I am not a weight weenie, but I do like to get the lightest for my money, it's not just the weight I want it to look good, Make it look different from others.

I am definateley upgrading the tyres, and the ultremos have good reviews and are light, plus for just under £50 on eBay are a possibility. The skewers are a must, I hate the current ones for some reason and I would like a pair of White non quick release, yet again just seeing what I can get for my money other than the halo hex's, I know you can get lighter for the same money but only in a different colour. The seat is also slightly uncomfortable aswell, not to my liking. So I was just wondering if there is something else that is better or lighter for my money, as if I am going to upgrade, which I am, it might aswell be as light as possible for the money!!

Oh, and the seatpost saves 100g for £18 so might aswell.

100g for £18, no don't do it, save it for some decent kit.

Junior racing has gear restrictions, I myself found out about them a few weeks ago, as you're only 15, I'd train up for a year, then enter racing in the Junior Category, this means you can have a maximum gear ratio of 52x14 on 700x23 tyres. You can probably get this ratio by using the screws on your rear deraillleur to limit which gears are available to you.

As to your q/r skewers, get some quick release, else you have to change your axle etc. and then you have to carry a tool with you to repair a puncture while out on the road.

Oh and just so you know, if you train on a heavier bike, when you come to race on lighter bikes in the future, you feel the benefit a lot more, I've come off of a 15kg+ bike onto a sub 10kg and I'm a lot fitter and quicker than I would be had I trained on my new bike.

Bolt on skewers are good for security reasons though!!

By the time the racing season starts I'll be 16.

I have a target of under 8kg which is just for the reason it beats my mates, I don't care how long it takes me to get there, and it won't cost that much!

Has anyone had any issues with the schwalbe ultremos I hear they can randomly fall off the wheel.

actually, now I've thought about it... your making changes that will make you feel better about the bike. if these little changes make you enjoy it more then why not. it may even improve your riding/times so go ahead.... enjoy :becool:

It's still junior category, you will need to sort your gear ratios out.

I'm sure I'll get it sorted iamiadam

That must mean that I can't use my highest gear, I didn't think that was that fast anyway, let alone the lower gears.
