Ok, imagine you go on a nice long bike ride to a cafe and a bad man nicks your helmet whilst you are ordering your tea, do you.

a) Walk the bike twenty miles home?
b) Call a taxi?
c) Pedal home but ride more cautiously?
d) Pedal home but ride on the pavement?

or E) Ride home as normal

so a bad man decides to nick the helmet and leave the bike? surely hed take the bike, therefore id be left to get a taxi home with my helmet on

Facts remain the same, if i go out for an hour I am 4 times more likely to have an accident cycling than walking (based on your data and presuming it to be true) I also cycle faster than I walk, therefore its totally rational to take additional precautions cycling than walking.

Do you usually go out on foot or by bike to pass the time or to go somewhere?

David even I think you should answer Mickles post mate. You are doing yourself no favours at all.

I find it hard to take it seriously when it is going from one extreme to the other, asking for hard evidence one minute and then dreaming up a hypothetical scenario to attempt to prove a point the next. Where does this lead too? Numerous scenarios and suggestions which are all hypothetical from both sides of the argument, hardly going to support any point of view.

But to satisfy the request, I would probably ride home the same way I came and in the same manner.

Does the phrase nailing jelly to the ceiling have any resonance with you?

what type of jelly, which nails, how bigs the hammer, what is the ceiling made of, what is the temperature, moisture content of the room, etc etc.

Wouldn't that be a bit dangerous? I mean, wouldn't you want to ride with a little more caution since you're now lacking your safety helmet.

i ride with caution anyway, i have good awareness having rode motorbikes for years, ive got good road sense, i always use that and look around, life savers as they call them so would not change my approach to cycling
