Out for the usual stroll with the dog tonight. Frozen rain pellets meant we got so far, and the dog refused to go any further, sheltering under a handy cedar tree until the weather passed us by. Just feck off, it's almost Spring

So you think it’s OK to encourage people to travel unnecessarily ? That’s what they mean . We cancel the match we are not going to encourage people to drive /travel when they shouldn’t .

The reason trains were cancelled this morning was the risk of damaging points and track which despite having heaters to stop freezing are not operating at the optimum temperature . The motors and solenoids can’t drive through the grease when it’s almost solid . But no we must run trains despite the fact if one gets stranded because the points have failed the whole service stops.. rather than dealing with risk to services.

Yes Canada runs trains in winter . Maybe they have kit that is better suited to that climate . I don’t know ...

Snow is not a new invention, we had it back in the 70’s and 80’s, when matches were played in all conditions. Less of a litigation society in those days, hence my, I thought lighthearted but you seem to have taken offence, comment about health and safety.

No you seem to have jumped to a conclusion that I am offended .

I am putting across the rationale behind the advice.

It’s more to do with people being unable to drive it to be fair . And more vehicles . And more me me me attitude of those in the vehicles .

Cold, but little snow & none on the roads for this morning’s cycle to work. It’s Looking to be more interesting tomorrow. Amber snow in prospect (as opposed to “yellow snow”).

Im expecting lots of people who cant drive to block roads today @subaqua
I was following a nobber yesterday, who thought 6ft was a decent gap at 50 on a duel carriageway with snow on the road.

We had 4 killed in the area yes on local roads

It’s the way you started your post, with an assumption that I think it’s ok to encourage people to drive in poor conditions. Not appreciated. Not engaging with you any further.

Looking out at the snow here South of Carlisle..... Hmmmmm, can't see more than 100 yards. Going to try and check if the roads are clear but might have to take a days annual leave. Local schools all closed...

Setting off for Liverpool soon where I am due to be delivering cycle training to school children. Would normally ride the 15 miles each way, or get the train, but playing safe and have thrown the bike in the car after reading all the doomsday warnings of more snow to come and likely travel disruption if it does. The snow probably won't come but I thought that on Monday night. I hope their parents send them well wrapped and gloved up today and not like Ready Brek kids.

-11 this morning and a liberal sprinkling of snow. Decided to dig out the old winter mountaineering gloves for the ride to work. Little laddy complained a little with the ride to kindergarten, but he stoically carried on.
