Are we being forced to go electric?

The same Attenborough that made a career from jetting all over the planet?

Ah but now I don't need to go to the Galapagos Islands to see the wildlife.

But then why would the average person want to buy or lug around 500 miles worth of u wanted batteries? That's simply wasteful of both cash and finite resources.

Because they can't buy an ICE car anymore and can't get into town/city because of emissions, because the price of petrol will sky rocket, for the other 100 reasons please see this thread.

But you don't need a range of 500 miles to drive around a city.

I've never driven 500 miles in one stretch in almost 40 years of driving.
Yes I know some people will but that's not the average driver.

I think his point wasn't about buying electric, but about the extra weight needed for 500 miles worth of range, which most of us would hardly ever need.

They’ll it change the design bar a few tweaks as the primary driver is the drag coefficient and the cost to do so would be very high.
They’ll just keep refreshing with perhaps new “under the skin” changes but looks wise, very little difference.

Digging into used prices and it's not looking good if you bought an EV - residuals are dropping like lead weights at present, all good news for those wanting a used car though.

I’ve noticed the same when I was looking last week. The positive is the lower cost of getting into EVs for those not bothered about buying new.

Are they? Mrs D's Mini went in for it's 6 months safety check last week and unsolicited they offered us what we'd paid for it new.

I would have taken them up on it, but new ones aren't available until well into next year...which is possibly why they're trying to prise near new low mileage minters out of their owners grasp.

Very similar story with our drummer and his electric porker, except they phoned him out the blue to make their offer.
