Are we being forced to go electric?

Two, three old model 3s selling at £25k. Lot of car, cheap as chips to run, fast as fook and practical 5 seat saloon .
I would never countenance paying £25k for a used car!

Die hard I/C fans will continue like us with Rim brakes.

It isn’t about being anti EV but for many it’s not affordable and/or practical currently and for some the high costs simply aren’t justifiable even if the money to buy is in the bank.
It’s different if it’s a low tax/tax free company car, a subsidised work scheme, you have solar panels, off street parking and will never have to charge away from home…and/or do loads and loads of miles but that’s a minority of U.K. car owners at present

First I think off street parking for UK households is around 50%. £25k is not alot for a new or nearly new car

£25k is a lot of money to many (loads PCP cars these days anyway), and I'm not interested in spending that on a car that I won't use (you've personally got two expensive EV's and a US Monster Truck - which must be over £150k or tin boxes - so your views of £25k not being much might be slightly out of kilter).

Some of us don't see having a tin box on wheels that 'exciting' as we don't do enough miles.

It might not be for you (you're clearly very wealthy), but it is for a lot of people. Personally, I've never spent more than £13k on a car, that was a year old. I drive maybe 3-4000 miles a year. Why would I want something that costs 25k sitting on my drive much of the time. You drive many thousands of miles so for you it might make sense, for myself not at all (and yes I do need a car, notably for elderly parent caring duties)

It isn't, but it will be 3-5 years before those cars second hand are in the sort of price bracket most of us are willing to pay.

The most I have ever paid for a car is about £8K, and that was for a 3 year old decent sized family estate. And I don't think I am unusual in not being willing to spend more than £10K on a car.

Most cars don't need to get on or off muddy fields either.

And there will be full EV land Rovers available from next year (they already have hybrids).

I'm sure there will also be plenty of other 4x4 EVs in time.

And those are equally unnecessary for most people

And as they'll be getting on in age and mileage, people will need reassurance about their reliability and longevity. I'm not spending £25k on a car that might need an extremely expensive battery in a few years (I've had my current car for 10 years and have no plans to change)

God help a buyer of an EV JRL group. They can't get electrics right on ICE cars

You don't often need to get out of a muddy field. Use a carpark, that's what the regular travellers do🤣

EV are better on muddy fields as they are generally 4wheel drive.
It's the tyres that make the difference problem is mud trade too noisy on road. Snow / winter tyres are best compromise...
