Are we being forced to go electric?

Anyhow, whether you perceive 50+ to be older is a perception. I'm 50 and perceive myself as older (I'm older than probably 95% of my colleagues for example). I am way into the second half of my life for sure (I have no likelihood or desire to live to 100)

While I still regard myself as middle-aged, at 64.

600-1000bhp.

1000bhp being the Plaid model

There are performance models some with ludicrous upgrade in between standard and Plaid

Standard model like mine have 605bhp

No hyperlinks, just screenshots. If you have any interest (doubt) go and have a bit of internet search

Who the hell needs 600 bhp though. You use that and its hardly green use of energy. 150bhp is more than enough.

By your thinking, why 150bhp, that's far too much when 50hp can get you to national speed limit?

Why have 4 seats when most car journeys are by solo drivers?

Get where I'm going with it?

I like having power on tap, doesn't mean I use it often, but its convenient and doesn't mean I need to thrash a small power ICE

Makes having a 1,000bhp vehicle seem worse still. Twenty times as much power required to get to the national speed limit.

Meanwhile we have to stop burning fossil fuels…

Especially for generating electricity for all these 1000bhp EVs

From the very earliest point of cars, manufacturers have made more powerful engine's.

We don't live in a socialist state where everyone has equality for everything.

I agree 1000bhp is alot, I personally don't want that that much, however I don't have any objections to someone wanting a Plaid model or any other super car.

Each to their own and desires

I await the day Tesla do a 'cheap' car. The Model 3 was supposed to be 'cheap'.

A lot of electric cars are way faster than they need to be, hence the astronomical costs. Teslas are the old man's new RS4.

Why "hence the astronomical costs"?

It doesn't cost much more to make them faster.
