I've made similar points about the fact that the reductions in fuel tax revenue means that the poor subsidising the rich so the rich can save money. Wait until the uptake of EV's gets higher and they have to recoup even more lost revenue.
The "honeymoon period" is set to end in 2025, when EV's are set to be come liable for VED. Hopefully based on the value of the vehicle.

I to a ok I have a drive and the money to buy a Tesla so I will get cheap energy, pay no road or fuel tax allowing me to drive to the long haul airport and fly to the Maldives or Carribbean!

Happy days.

Heres to the terraces flats and high rises. Do as say and not as I do!!

It's says a lot that the revised ULEZ includes Heathrow Airport, so you have to pay an emission charge for the car so you can get on an aeroplane, or even deliver to the airport complex.

And another issue for EV production apparently is the factories that are going to be needed to make the batteries will have to be sited near the car manufacturers because of the weight of an actual battery pack is so great, it doesn't make it viable to ship them all over the country to be fitted in the shiny new EVs.
According to the report.

I’m not really sure why the (council) taxpayer should be paying to facilitate the charging of privately owned vehicles myself

Because council provide infrastructure, as they have always done. They will get grants to get charging stations fitted as they have up here where i live…..we had 8 fitted during covid times.

Before NEW Sales are banned. I'll get that 370z one day, or a GTR

In my defence, the dirty ICE 22 year old bike hauler did just 3000 miles last year ! (MOT due) Mostly longer journies ! It wasn't a US American Monster Truck that (shouldn't be allowed in the UK) someone doesn't mention much because they go on and on about the EV's - you need NOT to be using your vehicles much ! Bike all the way.

Rs6 I'm thinking!!

They do sound mad, unlike a zzzzzzzzzzz from an equally fast leccy car.
It is as it is - I want a small leccy 4/5 seater town car please someone - like an Aygo with a battery. PLEASE. The ICE would be used for hauling, the little thing we'd charge at home and bob about, but needs to seat 4. Not a big ask. More please. The Zoe has gone silly money !

Just imagine if the government had invested a fraction of the money they've pumped into EV's, including new roads, into supporting alternatives ways of working to reduce the need to travel, and supporting alternative modes of transport to the private car.

I wonder how many of those thinking they're 'green' because they can afford an EV and solar panels would be prepared to use public transport more?
