i have just been informed by someone who wastes even more time on the Internet than I do, that the genealogically correct name of the British Royal Family should henceforward be:

"Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg"

That's going be a great name to chant at football games, since it has the same tune as "You're going home in a f--king ambulance."

In a similar vein, during the First World War, when the Royal Family changed their name to Windsor to avoid anti German sentiment, the Kaiser is reported to have said "I went to see a play last night, the Merry Wives of Saxe-Koberg Gotha". (apologies for spelling)

The national anthem of Hannover, which is the sort of home city of the Schleswig-Holstein-Sonderburg-Glücksburg family, has the same tune as that of Britain.

Technically that means you should be supporting the German team, which has the added advantage that immediately and with no extra effort, fans will be able to claim to have won four World Championships instead of just one.

I am pretty sure quite a few countries use the tune from God Save The Queen / King as their anthem music. My memory ain't what it was but certainly recalling old football trips, maybe Georgia, Lichtenstein?

I also found out recently that the Breton anthem uses the the tune of the Welsh National Anthem.
