...that Tesco & Sainsburys don't open on Easter Sunday.

I had a bet with my wife this morning as I set off to buy groceries. Sainsbury's local was open so I won, obv. Coop was closed, although I actually ended up in the local greengrocer as they had everything I needed.

Don't know about the big Sainsbury.

Whilst watching tv tonight I was curious who voiced Smaug in the Hobbit movie and was surprised to learn it was Benedict Cumberbatch.

My Tesco Extra is, they had more staff in than customers also.

Are you sure?

They will have been breaking the law if they were open.

Sops over 280 Sq metres retail space are not allowed to open on Easter Sunday or Christmas day (with certain exceptions which do not include such supermarkets).

Any other Sunday, they can open for up to 6 consecutive hours.

Are you sure you didn't mean Tesco Express?

Small shops (under 280 Sq M) can open whatever hours they like.

Larger shops are restricted to 6 hours on a Sunday, and are not allowed to open Easter Sunday.
