I have been looking at all sorts of cheap stuff on eBay and Amazon recently and some of the Chinese -> English translations are a bit odd. One often has to guess at what they are trying to say.

Just found out that Operation Barbarossa, the Nazi push into Russia, is a translation of operation Red Beard.
It makes it sound so much more silly when you think of it like that.

I mentioned this on the 'fettling' thread a couple of days ago, but it is worth mentioning here too if it saves somebody repeating my mistake...

IS-to-PM disc brake adapters are not the same size front and rear! I bought one for a 160 mm disc and found that it would not allow me to fit the calliper to a 160 mm rear disc. It turns out to be for a 160 mm FRONT disc. I think it would be good for a 140 mm REAR disc. I now have a 160 mm REAR adapter on order!

I only realised about a year ago that I've got a bald spot on the top of my head. I can't feel it and of course can't see it. But I saw a photo from years back which showed my bald patch so must have been there for some years

I had the same thing happen.

I forgot about it and went out for a long ride one hot summer day. I came back with stripes burned onto the bald spot from the slots in my helmet! I always wear a bandana, buff or skull cap now. If it is hot, I pour water on it to help keep my head cool.

I didn't know that when one is as bald as me (I bic the dome) one should avoid wearing baseball caps in sunny weather to avoid the semi circular shaped sun tan at the back where the adjuster sits.

Lesson learned. I now where an old boonie hat in such weather.
