My grandfather helped build it he original Road going GEN 11 for the film, I think he was fairly important in the project.
Ooh, I wonder if it was the same one? This was fully sized but didn't go, on account of having a flat battery. My parents were heavily involved in the Leukaemia Research Fund, managed to blag Chitty Chitty Bang Bang from somewhere (possibly through a bloke called Les Hillman who lived across town and was involved in SFX) and had it in the High Street for people to have their photos taken in, in exchange for a few bob.

I saw a fatal helicopter crash at the Farnborough Airshow in 1976. We were parked up by the perimeter, right next to the thing. We decided to do something else after that.

^_^. Funnily enough, it was those sorts of skives and shennanigans that I got up to at school that made me determined to see what I actually could achieve now if I applied myself. I now find it impossible to even round up a single km, I'm so determined to actually measure my performance correctly. Late in life I've discovered that it's much more enjoyable actually completing the course. Next month I should be getting my Audax UK "Brevet 2,000" badge for 2,000km of audaxing:dance:. If my old PE teacher could see me now....
do you get much bother out of yours ? I have to be careful doing jobs on my hands and knees (good knee pads are essential). Apart from that if I stay fit and strong and do my knee exercises they are no problem, let them get weak and they can be a right pain, literally.
On and off and in the last few years after doing some damage running, a lot. A long ride or a mtn walk will set it off aching badly. Even a few days building a gate in the back garden has set it off. I tend to always be aware of it now and am consciously managing it and evaluating how much activity versus rest I can get away with. Working the muscles around it with a roller or stretching really helps. When it's really bad, actually moving the patella around my knee is beneficial.

My son has a bipartite patella too and he too is getting pain from it. Undoubtedly set off by the level of exercise he does, so it's probably off to a specialist to see if anything can be done. They can pin them or cut tendons to take the strain off the join.

With apologies to jefmcg for the diversion.
