Well, everyday is a school day.

I think the problem of pratice/practise arises because there is no difference in the pronunciation, whereas with advice/advise (noun and verb respectively) the pronunciation is quite different so you don’t see those being used in the wrong way.

If you’re ever unsure which spelling you need for ‘practice’, consider the advice/advise pairing and you’ll get it right.

You can get arrested for that, unless a teacher

I had to negotiate this brilliantly parked Passat when walking to the chemist earlier. I was tempted to walk over the bonnet, or maybe try to borrow a pram and drag it across the bonnet. But at least the driver had left the hazard lights on!

This is a double-whammy. Managed to park across cycle lane + dropped pavement AND on the zig-zags of the zebra crossing. At that moment a police car came by and I attempted to get their attention but they failed to see me and carried on. I’ll throw this question out to other forum members : would the police in their patrol car have been sufficiently interested in this infringement anyway ?

Why not send Photographs to Police, and report the dreadful parking? They may follow it up, if not, nothing lost.

Probably not a police matter. Most areas now are civil enforcement of parking offences.

I guess I could do that but the moment has passed ( two days ago ). Besides, are the police interested in following up such infringements ?

It is probably the local authority, rather than police, as @Alex321 says. My principle is to report such things. Sometimes, nothing happens, but, there is the occasional “success”. For example, on one of my regular routes, there was routinely a taxi/minibus parked blocking the cycle lane. I reported it, with photograph. Said taxi has not been there since. May be coincidence of course, maybe he/she is blocking a pavement somewhere. 😊
