A pavement parking odyssey

Okay it’s not on pavements, but this was the thread that l knew about

Loch Promenade
Douglas
Isle Of Man

Despite the angled bays, which are considerably wider than the archetypal (standard) car-perk, they seem to be too much for some drivers
This is straight opposite the Hotel

We’ve seen a lot worse up & down the promenade, over the week, some even took up 2 spaces!

Glad that's not a White Zaffy. It could have been Mrs V

Mrs V and I used to squeeze prams though spaces like that, outside the school - making sure it rubbed up against the car as much as possible.

Nobody ever parked there twice.

Shame all the kids are grown up now.

Maybe I could hire a wheelchair

mtb pedals work well!

The people in the house at the start of our road are just taking thw whatsit now

The turn from the main road into the estate is quite tight anyway - but it is followed by a sharp right within a few yards
The people who live there are now parking their van - actually second van - the first on is on their very short drive - JUST past the corner on the pavement - then their car in front of it
The lady opposite them is old and not good on her feet - but even she parks round the corner!

I may have to think about possibily maybe reporting it - althout not sure if it should be the cops or the counsel

I have noted that there is JUST ABOUT room for a fire engine it it was going dead slow

causing total havoc at busy times now

It'll almost certainly be the carncil. Since parking was decriminalised and deregulated nearly 20 years ago police in most areas have had the powers taken from them by the local authorities.

Police in those areas only retain two emergency powers, dangerous position and unnecessary obstruction (and there has to be a real obstruction, someone unable to get past, not a hypothetical "a fire engine would never get down there" one.)

As you can see, our route from car to flat was slightly blocked yesterday evening. My mutt went to the right as you look at the pics, I went to the left. A car then appeared from that road in the background. I panicked thinking mutt might run onto the road looking for me. The driver of the car held back while I made it back to the pavement and thankfully saw he was still on the grassed bit.
