There was i toying with the idea of having this vaccine, when they decide to roll out Queenie Windsor to tell us 'it doesn't hurt' and those not having it are selfish.

As a former (though still hates having them) needle phobic i find it patronising when they keep telling us 'it doesn't hurt'. It's not about the pain, more about the uncertainty of what's in it!🤔
Would you be more convinced if they could reassure you that it did hurt accy?
If miss whiplash told you to take it?
(Have a vague memory, possibly wrong, that she once stood for election over the hill).
By the by, with mine this morning, i was just thinking that jabs don't hurt as much when i was a kid, to find that this one did a bit - i hardly felt the flu jab at all.

Don't have it then.

Had mine this morning. He asked if I was driving and I said I was on my bike. I expect nobody had provided any advice for this weird behaviour and he just said OK! So I cycled home. It was a very pleasant 8 mile round trip.

Took the Daughter for hers this morning and noticed lots of people coming out and sitting in their cars, when she came out I mentioned this and she said they told her she needed to wait 15 minutes before driving.

She had the Oxford one so I assume this was the advice given to the people waiting.

She needed to show proof of her eligibility, working with vulnerable kids, so it does look like their making sure no-one is trying it on.

I'm 60 & it worked, I passed the link on to a friend who is also 60 & his wife is 59, just sent him a message to ask if he's tried or not.
Even if the link works and you are able to book, if you fall outside of the age range or other qualifiying criteria theyll turn you away. I know someone to whom this happened, and I did have brief schadenfreude chuckle.

I was asked to confirm my date of birth at the centre today. No problem - didn't even get a comment.

I have problems convincing the nurses I'm over 25.

Always a plan B and the underpants I'm sure.

You sometimes used to get people who lied about their age for the flu jab, very rare, but they got rumbled.

Given that for this rollout, the staff have your NHS number, which is linked to your dob and other details, all they're really doing is a basic confirmation that you are who you say you are.

A friend of ours, who is under 64, was texted by her GP last weekend for a jab at the local centre. She needed no prompting!

All parents and teachers love remote parents evenings. From the parent’s point of view, no rushing about, no waiting because teachers can’t overrun. From the teacher’s point of view, no talking for 3 hours in a large hall with hundreds of other people talking which wrecks your voice and parents turn up on time.
Long may they continue
As both a parent and spouse of a teacher I fully agree. It would help if schools were a bit more tech savvy, but even the less than perfect example during covid is better than the face to face days.

Quite. It's also just a basic backstop against bungles, mistaking and misrecording the person they have in front of them.
I give false dates of birth to all sorts of online things as a basic security policy but someone would have to be pretty daft to do it with government, health stuff or key finance things.

Before sticking the needle in me the Doc (for a man of my station warrants far more than a mere Nurse ;) ) asked me a few medical questions, including "do you take blood thinners?"

"Nah", I smarmed back at her, "I take blood fatteners!", which earned me a chuckle.

Not bad for a stripling of 51 (I'm 52 tomorrow).
