2-3 hour drive or 2-3 hour walk?
Drive. You would have thought the county town city of Essex would have a vaccine centre but apparently not.
The closest being offered is the other side of the QE2 bridge in Kent so would have to cough up on the toll as well.
Well wait until Basildon sorts itself out and gets the invites sent out.

My OH went to Boots in Bluewater yesterday. Well organized vaccination centre with very little queueing.
And a few shops still open for a little bit of shopping - M&S food and first floor and Boots itself. Made a nice change to get out and walk round the centre.

You're not supposed to drive for 15 minutes or so after the jab (advice given to my wife 2 weeks ago and to me today).
Thanks and to everyone else, going by (e)bike is favourable as I know how long that will take, with the amount of road works that the bike can avoid it will be most likely be the quickest and I can always walk part of the way back.

There was i toying with the idea of having this vaccine, when they decide to roll out Queenie Windsor to tell us 'it doesn't hurt' and those not having it are selfish.

As a former (though still hates having them) needle phobic i find it patronising when they keep telling us 'it doesn't hurt'. It's not about the pain, more about the uncertainty of what's in it!🤔

The vaccines are as I understand it generally developments of existing ones tweaked to address this CV so apart from the bit to address this CV what has been used for ages.

Had mine a while back (>70 group) and the OH yesterday.

Talking (on the phone) with our daughter yesterday, who hasn't yet been done. She reminded us that she had to attend a parent's evening with her son/our grandson that evening. We were a bit alarmed, until she said that it was being done via Zoom or other such trickery and they would be in the comfort of their own home.

How times have changed. I can easily see such technology continuing for some time.
All parents and teachers love remote parents evenings. From the parent’s point of view, no rushing about, no waiting because teachers can’t overrun. From the teacher’s point of view, no talking for 3 hours in a large hall with hundreds of other people talking which wrecks your voice and parents turn up on time.
Long may they continue

Yep, had mine this morning. Was surprised that I didn't have to wait afterwards. They said fine to leave if i wasn't driving. I asked about cycling - they said best not. So second jab I will do the same as this, mix of walking and bus hop.
