2.0 TDI Octavia is quick enough tbh.
It's a more versatile golf gtd.

Ah I'm going Petrol only, I don't do the long miles I used to to justify a Diesel so I think that is the TSI.

I looked at the Golf but ther'y really big enough for what I want.

Just bear in mind the words of a former neighbour who bought an Impreza brand new, it was kept about 3 months, his exact words as to why it had gone was I've never had a car use as much petrol in my life

My former next door neighbour had an Impreza that he had 'breathed on' a bit (bigger Turbo, gigantic intercooler, 'freeflow exhaust' and remapped to suit) over 500bhp on pump petrol more on E85. When 'booting' it he could drop to 2 mpg Oil for it was £15 a litre and needed changing every 2,000 miles, bloody thing rattled our windows on tickover but strangely got quieter as he revved it.
Scott freely admitted it was a toy and only used to tax it for a couple of months a year (declared SORN the rest of the time)

A college friend of mine's Dad bought one in the late 1990s when they were relatively unknown, it was a company car purchase as well (back when you could choose your own) and the company other than being told 'its a 2 litre 4 door japanese saloon' had no idea what he was actually getting.

I think he put it through and hedge and a field at one point, though that didn't write it off lol.

Yeah Scott has done a bit of 'ploughing' with his but not as bad as his mate Carlos who had a limited edition WRC STi, he spun his coming down a slip road onto a motorway and bounced from one Armco into the other a few times and bent/scraped every panel even the roof, Walked away without a scratch and the Insurance even payed out (blamed on 'black Ice')

The neighbour of one of the women in the running club I used to be in, had a Vauxhall Monaro
That used to get past the windows & rattle the picture-frames on the fireplace
She never talked him into taking me for a ride though:sad:

The Monaro, that's the reworked Holden with the V8
Yep!!!!
Initially here as a coupe, then as a 4-door saloon
We never got the ‘wagon’

A few ‘utes’ made it here (the ‘Maloo’)
