I have recently treated myself to some zwift play controllers ,still getting used to the steering .As an experiment this morning I completed the course Danger noodle , obviously a twisty course using the rollers of titans both ways . I tried to take the shortest line on the course possible as I crossed the line I ticked over to 31.5km the companion app has the course listed at 32.3km anyone know if that's accurate? .If it is that's a saving off 800mts !!!!
A little high but believable for a twisty circuit, in races I routinely do about maybe 2-300m less than others on shorter courses and I don't always take the racing line if there's a pushing peloton as I'd rather be in draft.

Altho more recently my steering haywires and pushes me off to the extreme left every now and then to keep things interesting 😂

I'll see you there. I'm racing at the same time.

Well, I say racing, but it's more likely to be a Zone 2 recovery ride. Found out last week that I've had pneumonia.

After a chest x-ray, my 3rd course of antibiotics seems to be getting on top of it. The whole thing started with a cold, possibly Covid, at Christmas and has been rumbling on since then, through a second cold and 2 earlier courses of antibiotics.

Got back on the bike last week, but I think I'd be better off following a very slow pace partner right now!

Holy sh!t Del. I hope you make a speedy recovery. Pneumonia can be very nasty

I was talking to a colleague, he's been ill for weeks, so has most of my family (who keep infecting me )
🤬
I've been ill on and off since very early January. This being the worst bout. I'm beginning to slowly get better, but it's varied, I have some improvement, then fall back. My RHR during the day has been 65bpm where it's normally 42. Today it's gradually dropping to low 50s BPM. Hopefully this is a sign I'm winning the lurgy battle.

I did a ride yesterday at 85W, it felt much harder than it looked. I had to do it to keep my Zwift counter going. I'm on week 65 of consistency 😁

There was a recent update to correct this swerving to the side.

I find if I'm getting dropped on a twisty course, taking the shortest line gets me back into the pack.

Yes that sounds about right on a twisty course.

I certainly use that method to help me hang on when I'm racing above my pay-grade

You can really make up ground if you take the inside line while pushing a bit harder - ideally staying just in the draft as well.

@alex_cycles - for the DRS Series prologue on Wednesday, do you know if going through the sprint in the lead-in counts as the first time through for purposes of when the FAL & FTS times are taken?

FTS & FAL times for the sprint are described as being taken on 2nd and 4th times through but also as being on Loop 2 and Loop 4 (it's a lead-in, followed by 5 loops, followed by the KOM but we go through the sprint 6 times - lead-in, then the 5 loops)

The least ambiguous way to answer that is with a picture.
He's deliberately said 2nd and 4th time through because there is no lap counter in this course because it's the after party.
So we're doing 1 lap of After Party - even though that's lead-in plus 5 laps of Queen's Highway, followed by the KoM.

So it is literally second time through including the lead-in

Saw you in the lineup. Should be a lot of fun. But don't overdo it while recuperating.

Decided to withdraw from the prologue.

Nowhere near fit enough. Rode Sunday in a Tour de Zwift stage. Started well, and then went downhill. In fact down several hills, as I tired and got dropped by one group after another as I went from the front group to about halfway down the field.

Endurance is shot and my average power is about 30w down. Decided I need to work my way back steadily, rather than trying to compete in races.

I'll see how my recovery goes before I decide on future weeks.

Hope all you guys riding the DIRT series enjoy it!

Very wise Del :okay:

Good luck with the comeback.

Found in the Yorkshire hills ...
@Del C - hope you recover well and welcome to my world.

January riding on Zwift was probably OK due to the hard prep I'd done ahead of the 2025 track season. However, I can't ride for much more than an hour currently nor raise the heart rate too high: the medics were concerned about damage to the re-connected finger.

As a result base fitness has dropped, w/kg is down, and I've just decided to keep it steady for a while rather than try and fail to hang on to faster groups.

Thanks Alex - that is clear.

I thought that would be the case but wanted to check. I suppose the slightly ambiguous wording on the stage details (for me anyway!) is where he says its "Sprint Loop 2" and "Sprint Loop 4" which could be read as the second and 4th loops of the course which start after the lead-in.

Not sure why I'm that bothered actually thinking about it as I'm unlikely to feature in those sprints anyway to be honest!

Thanks

Wise decision, can't imagine how fatigued you feel.

I was knackered walking the dogs yesterday, still congested, but clearing. I'm starting Z1 end of the week and building back up

Sounds like there's one spot still left on my team for the DIRT series - Sapphire level based on Zwiftracing.app 30 day rankings, and EMEA C timezone which is 18:15 UK time if anyone is interested?

That sounds like a wise decision - even if it wasn't the way you wanted to go. 😭
Better to come back when you're ready.
