So to confirm. Road to sky - 34km ? Cheers
Well yeah - ride the Road to Sky route which is about 20km and in theory stops at the top of the Alpe. BUT then carry on round the top and back down which should give you a total distance of 34km. If you're using the meet up function just use "Road to Sky" and don't chnage the distance and it will take you to the top of the alpe, but you'll have to remember to carry on and ride back down

On a not altogether unrelated note...

Does anybody have any experience of cheap Chinese aero wheels? I was thinking of taking a punt as it'd be good to have some for ToC and was thinking I might try a bit of TT'ing later in the year. Most my riding is in rolling terrain though so didn't want to pay too much for wheels I may not use that much.

I can get some 50mm or 60mm ones for approx $550 (+20% ish for import duties) from Farsports that seem to get decent reviews.
I have some 38mm Chinese carbon wheels and very happy with them, looking at some 50mm and thinking of zuus for them.

Thanks for your opinions guys on Chinese wheels. I'll take a look at Zuus - I assume they use imported Chinese carbon and build their own wheelsets and are UK based? I suppose it'd be easier to deal with a UK company if there are any issues.

I would never ever risk my life with cheap Chinese wheels. Do some over time or something.

@Whorty did you change bikes for the descent in the end? I thought I saw you pass me on your way down on a tron bike but it was a bit of a blur so I can't be sure!
I did, but it made no difference to time - I was 2 secs faster last night compared to Tuesday on descent, but lost about 20 seconds changing bikes. I think the only way to get more speed coming down is to find someone to draft with.

We deserve to know the truth Juha

(P.S. not against the rules at all - just no TT bikes :okay:)
A TT may have been faster, but I saw the rules  I was thinking as I started down, should I have gone for a heaving steel bike with Zipp wheels. Certainly the TRON vs Cervelo P5 with Meilstein Lightweights was pretty much the same time so not worth losing time in the changeover.

You descended 5 seconds quicker than me despite me doing 251 watts to your 176 watts. I think you're 1kg heavier than me. All of which suggests the main difference in descending speed is weight and I probably needn't have bothered pedaling as much as I did!

That's correct and they don't suggest otherwise. I nearly bought some Hunt 50's (who also use chinese/Taiwanese sourced parts) but couldn't justify the £450 price difference.

Select Road to Sky. When you get to top of Alpe, keep riding around the top and descend. To be on the safe side, when I descended I pushed on to the green 'barrier' / 'gate' that leads from the Alpe course to the jungle :okay:
