I can see myself sticking with the rollers even after the turbo turns up. Might be a bit of a bold statement considering I’ve only put 10 minutes in so far... but I can really see the benefits of it. What was wrong with the tacx ones aleman? The ones I have at my house at the mo are tacx.
If I could get the Tacx ones to run quieter, I'd happily use them, especially with my new power meter  The issue with them is that the bearing housing is plastic, and unless you fit them with a drift (I know plastic housing and a drift - It's tacx's advice to fix the noise issue) then they work loose and the rollers move side to side in the frame, generating 'Chatter' The faster you go the noisier they get. I've tried new sealed bearings, using Loctite bearing glue, and even had some custom laser cut washers made to pack the bearings out on the shaft, and tightening the bolts on the shaft to silly levels. No joy, bloody things still chatter.

If they are put together firmly to start with then you probably have no issues, I didn't have for a couple of months

In a youtube are videos where someone ride with rollers with tt-bike and aero helmet on head. I can understand that helmet if you warm up just before the race but when you doing that at a home that is bit of exaggerative. Maybe it's more like advertising.

I didn’t notice much noise last night but to be fair I was mostly trying not to land on my face!

But it sounds like I’d be better going for a different brand maybe.

Mine are the Tacx Antares, but the Tacx Galaxia have the same rollers ... I've heard good things about the Elite Ghibli ... Elite even do some ANT+ FE-C with up to 1100W resistance!!

About 75 the steepest sections. I prefer +90.
I was paying more attention today. I was as low as 60 rpm. HR not low at all. I need to push +300 watts not to come to a stand still.

Maybe it’s to do with working on your position.

Yes, i can understand that but with a aerohelmet. What benefit helmet bring that training. Is helmet give you a better feeling your position?.

Yes basically. Filming yourself in your aero position is a good way of seeing what you’re doing right and wrong. Sharing the video with others also gives you the chance of a second opinion. Plus feel wise once in a while it’s a good way of putting you in the right mindset. I used to wear my dress shoes while practicing on the snooker table as a way of feeling more comfortable in matches. Taking my snooker cue to bed with me was probably a little excessive... :shy:

This one is an Antares too. I’ll use it a few more times before I give it back. But it sounds like I’ll keep looking. I do think I’ll use rollers beyond the point when my turbo turns up but I’m still not looking to go too mad budget wise. Shame the Antares is fundamentally flawed as the price is decent and to make it mechanically better wouldn’t cost them that much more.
