If you're planning to go abroad for big mountains, then having the bike inclined helps with acclimatization (pun)' of the position
I think that I will probably never make it to the big mountains now!

Maybe if I got fit enough I might reconsider it but my iffy lungs probably wouldn't like the air's lower oxygen content at altitude.

I do a lot of climbing at 10-20% (at low altitude though) so I am accustomed to my bike pointing upwards...

Going up!.jpg

Watching that DC Rainmaker review was what sold the Victory to me! (And probably most of the other people who bought the remaining stock ahead of me, creating the shortage of units.)

I'll watch those other videos in a minute. But first, I have something important to say... I am an idiot. A blithering idiot!! Yes, I know that many of you will already have come to that conclusion, but for those of you who were reserving judgement...

As mentioned above, I had lost the power block for my old Samsung TV. I needed to find it because that TV is going to become my Zwift screen. I had a very clear memory of the Samsung power block sitting under the old TV before I moved my super duper new TV in to take its place. After several days of looking for it, I thought I had finally found it behind the new TV, where it had sat before. How stupid of me! I went to fish it out and realised that it was still plugged in... to my old Samsung soundbar. My mind whirred... slowly... OFFS!!! I ran upstairs and turned the old TV round so the back was facing me... Yep, it didn't need a power block - just a 2 pin mains lead, which took me about 15 seconds to find!!! :cursing: :banghead:

Ha!

Power is restored!.jpg

This is why I was thinking of servicing the TV...

Dirty discoloured screen.jpg

The dark splodges are dust that has got inside the screen over the years. The big purple splodge centre bottom is more obvious than it looks here. It is due to the white backlight LEDs 'wearing out'. If I take the screen to bits I can clean the dust out and I have bought replacement backlights. The thing making me hesitate is that I would have to take out a very slim and delicate 40" LCD panel without damaging it, and then put it back again after changing the LED strips. There is a fair chance that I would wreck it!

The Apple TV box is on its way so I think I will install Zwift on that and see how bad the app looks on that screen as it is. If I can't tolerate it I will attempt the repair. If the worst comes to the worst I can probably pick up another old TV for not too much.

Is that Newlands Hause with Buttermere in the background? Did that one in 2022 - need to get back there and do some more of those. Honister was really yuck though.

Apparently so Martin, lots of comments on the forums about removing URL links.

I tend to clip a 15 sec video out of my most worthy part of the race and upload that. That does work

No - it is Black Hill on Barden Road between Wharfedale and Skipton.

I was struggling! Partly because of lack of fitness, but also because I was overdressed for the conditions.

I took a few minutes to enjoy the views and have a relaxed conversation with my CycleChat pals at the summit...

Just put 30mm trainer tyres on my race bike. Think I got fair wear out of these race tyres 😁

If you take the straw out of the inner tube, you will go much quicker 😜

I used to live and work in the area. Worked in Otley, Ilkley, Addingham. Lived in Keighley as a young man. Those landscapes bring back memories 👍
I will be 69 in January. I am hoping that using Zwift will help get/keep me fit enough to continue riding these hills until at least 80 on leg power alone.

I may not manage it but I will give it a good go!

No reason not to. I do most outdoor rides with the Mrs these days. I made her an ebike several years ago, she loved the increase in her cycling.

She was never interested in cycling before. I could see the benefits of them so got an ebike myself. We ride locally(pubs, restaurants ), have done 60 miles in one journey and had 5 day tour around King Alfred's Way this summer gone.

Recommend one if things get tougher than you'd like

I just watched a video of a large German rider losing what looked like a litre of sweat doing AdZ! I think that I will buy a second fan to use on long, hard Zwift sessions. I may also use my dehumidifier in the room. That is great for sucking moisture out of the air when drying washing indoors and should do the same for sweaty pain caves/corners!
