Yep Edge Hill is a good 50mph hill - but as you say that left hander is a squeaky bum time especially when roads are damp. I also dislike the turning on the left just after the bend - I always anticipate someone turning into it or coming out of it - which have both happened to me.

My most enjoyable ever descent was in Wales towards the end of a 9 hour ride on a sunny day in June 2022. I think we were descending this part of Rhigos https://www.strava.com/activities/7346984882/segments/2974420701972226224

It was a 15 minute descent and there were two motorbikes behind who were unable to catch us. We were grinning from ear to ear.

My fastest descent was on holiday in Orlando last year - yes, there are some hills in Florida, just not that many and they don't go very high! But this one road is about 10% for just over half a mile and it's perfectly straight, the tarmac is smooth, there's no traffic and while there is a junction at the bottom, there's a little bit of a rise before you get to it meaning you've got plenty of time to scrub off that speed.

I managed to hit 48.3mph without even trying - if I'd have pedaled agressively at the start of the descent, I know I'd have easily topped 50.

If you look on this StreetView, you can see a dot in the distance that is a cyclist. The car doesn't catch up to him until you reach the junction and even then only just!

Today I chose Z2 and weights after a weekend of sniffles. Didn't fancy Z4/5 workout. Ill redo the missed workout later.

We've added to our pet collection with two new Jacksunds pups.

This makes five dogs now

I did a 100 minute Z2 ride, found it really hard which is frustrating as only a few years ago I was doing 4 and 5 hour rides easily outside. My fitness really is rubbish at the moment!

Did you do it solo/ workout or social ride?

The bigger Z2 stuff Ive tended to do on a weekend with mass social events. I think it's SZR that have a rider fence for the first 50km to stop racing, then lift it if you want to push on for the finish. It's only consistency and fitness will return

Solo in Mukuri, I chose the pretzel route. I was hoping to tick off the 77km but legs just didn't have it.

Absolutely, I'm not riding enough and not doing enough time in the saddle. I should find the time to do more Z2 longer rides

I struggle to do much more than 60-90 minutes in the saddle on Zwift, whether solo or in an event at the moment, regardless of what zone I'm doing. Yet I can do rides of over 4 hours outdoors without too much of a problem - it tends to be my bum that aches first long before my legs or my lungs! I put it down to the expectation that while Zwifting you rarely stop pedalling, you're always pushing on with no freewheeling except maybe on the longest of descents, whereas outdoors my cadence is up and down like a yo-yo with lots of mini-breaks, so I feel less tired.

How are you defining your Zone 2? It's possible you're riding too hard for your current Zone 2.

(plus indoor rides are always harder physically and psychologically than outdoor - 2 hours indoors is like 4+ hours outdoor to me!)

It's surprising how low the power is to keep you on the upperZ1 into Z2

My Z1 power is around 170W and Z2 200W. Heart rate 125-140bpm

As a TrainingPeaks Premium user (via my coach) I thought I'd try TrainingPeaks Virtual (aka IndieVelo).

The graphics are a bit basic whish isn't a major deal, but I do like the way all the display elements seem to be customisable. I also like seeing the draft bar. It seemed a bit quiet and unsure how many of the riders were bots.

The blue graph. I averaged 170 watts over the 100 minutes which is in my blue zone. Some of the ride was yellow and green when going up a little climb. With an FTP of about 225 (2.7 w/kg) then 170 is about 2.1 w/kg. My ave HR was 123 (I max at 170 ish when racing).

That is true, but when I could do 5 hour outdoor rides, I could manage 2+ hour rides on Zwift so I'm definitely down on base fitness. Legs wouldn't let me go any further today though haha.
