Don't know nothing about that. Instead of commentary I am listening Black Sabbath - Sabotage album.

Yes, no ambient sounds is weird, but I also listen to music, so don’t hear it anyway. ^_^

There are no game sounds (except a bleep and a bob here and there) in MyWhoosh. :-) As for the commentators, well… British I guess?

I believe they were. Unfortunately we produce way more than our fair share of overly excitable morons to spout crap and spoil the viewer experience of any number of different sports. We might even be world leaders in the field. (which is good because we're crap at everything else  )

The curse of speaking a universally known language I guess. I have seen/heard them (Matt and Emma) commentating other MW events, but know nothing of their cycling background - if any…

Now that I’ve got a snazzy raceable hill climb bike (which would probably get used for fair-weather riding in the summertime), I’m also on the lookout for a power meter. Can I do any better than Favero Assioma Duo pedals (£555) and a Wahoo Elemnt Bolt V2 head unit (£250)? I’ve got a Garmin Forerunner 45 running watch and Garmin Dual HRM, but I don’t think that necessarily ties me too tightly into the Garmin ecosystem. I’m not in any hurry, because I probably won’t ride a bike outdoors again until next year. Do you think there might be Black Friday / Cyber Monday bargains to be had, are prices likely to drop with technological proliferation, or do I need to buy asap before inflation has its wicked way?

Also, any advice gratefully received on how I should broach this with my wife…

Well you could save £200 by going for the Assioma Uno’s unless having both sides measure is important for you.

Not sure on future pricing etc. I’d guess prices will hold until the days before or after Christmas when there might be a deal to be had if suppliers look to offload stock that hasn’t sold.

Re, the wife…it would have to be a tech / cycling savvy partner to notice the difference between a pair of assiomas and a regular set of pedals so you should be safe there. Same for the cycling computer, provided you can keep the pleased look off your face when you first try them out 😎

I'd definitely go Assioma Duo. I have only ever bought Garmin Head Units so can't comment on the Bolt but most Head Units do the basic stuff pretty well I think.

I always mute the ambient sounds on zwift to be fair. Esports commentators are generally away too overexcited. Was the actual presentation of the eSports any better than previous iterations?

Favero recently announced a recall/replacement programme. I have a pair, they are precise, but that's something to keep in mind. A bit like Shimano cranks in that respect.

I also have a Sygeiy spider meter which, to be honest, I like much more. I did rides with both and it was just as precise as the Favero, and because it's a spider you don't have to worry about it wearing out. Costs half as much and the battery holds twice as long.

That's interesting. I went for a pedal based solution as it was easy to switch between bikes. In reality though, I haven't often moved it - athough have done a few times from road bike to indoor bike to check trainer accuracy. Also once tested three different bikes in one day to compare.
But in the main my Vector 3s lives on my road bike and I just recently bought the Assioma Pro Mx2 SPD pedals to go on the gravel bike (and for occasional indoor use).

I was curious to check L/R balance so got the dual sided. In reality my L/R balance is closer than 48:52 most of the time. The Mx2 is a nice piece of kit. I could see myself switching back to SPDs for road riding at some point. Keo and SPD-SL are horrible for walking.

I wasn't really interested about that E-Cycling World Championships but two Finnish cyclist wake up my attention. Teppo Laurio's name is familiar but Kasper Borreman is cyclist I have never heard before. He was third so probably remember him better for now on.

Well, if you don’t “follow” indoor cycling, most of the names would be unknown. Many of them however have been riding Zwift for years at the A+ level, and also do the Sunday Race Club on MyWhoosh.
Michael Knudsen, one of the Danish guys, started on BKOOL and did multiple vEveresting events there back in the day.
Never heard of the Finnish guy(s) either, but they did mention that Kasper was the youngest one there. I think Teppo finished last, right?
