Enjoyed that, lots of surges, I wanted to go with the lead B guys, but you were too strong

That was a very impressive last attack

I had to go long as Stephen's short power has got the better of me far too often. I was really hurting by the time the sprint segment started though. But had enough speed to carry it.

He got away from me on the Clyde Kicker last week, which was why I was trying to hang onto you three faster guys near the start. I got a 2s gap on the rest of the group, but had to let them catch me or I'd have been toast.

Got dropped pretty quickly - a wake up call that I am waaaaaay off the fitness I was this time last year! A long way to go to get back into decent C shape.
Great race though @alex_cycles - thanks for organising. I'll try to join as many as I can going forward.

Great to see you racing again Carl. I think you've got the double hurdle of having had your Wattbike tweaked and then a long break to come to grips with here. Plus also your added muscle mass. I'm sure we'll see sprinty Carl before too long though tearing up the C races.
Let me know if you want to ride DRS at any point, I can slot you in a team (Tuesday mornings 1045 - Andy has done a few in Gold).

If your rating takes you back to Gold, I think you would really enjoy that series for a season while you build back up again.

Looks fun - do you always do them during the day on a Friday @alex_cycles ? If it was after work I'd join you

Yes it's currently a Friday 1045 thing. Really what I'm doing is "putting on the race I want to do" and seeing if people want to join.

I'm open to setting up some others at some point though, but while I find my feet as an organiser it's this one.
Also probably going to be experimenting with some of the fun formats on indieVelo in the near future. I'm loving the elimination races. So much fun.

You did amazing @Joffey to hang on to the group I was dropped from ... string legs today sir :notworthy:
My legs just didn't have that surge and recovery power that kept me in races last year. I can survive (just) in D races but I'm easily found out once I'm in C.

Cheers mate. I was only just keeping up though. I was only ever one further attack from being dropped (as seen at the end of the race)…

I am super unfit still and very heavy but I do have a good bit of power which helps on these shorter and flatter races.

My view of the race:

Yup. Unfortunately you're right 🤣

That's why I think you'd love DRS once you get booted out of ZRL D as it's 6-week seasons in very much tailored Cats.
Andy is a C and in Gold. You'll probably get back to platinum within a short space of time, but Platinum/Amethyst is more High C/low B so silver gold would be more enjoyable for you at the moment, I think.
