I think I can get all badges apart from the runner ones and I am never going to get the 1,000 1,100 or 1200 watt badge or the under 60 minutes for alp du zwift ( or whatever its called) unless I a) put a load of weight on, b) lose a load of weight . Oh or off course C which is cheat.

Have yo got the 25 times up Alpe du Zwift? I've got 3 ascents to go I think.

Nope I just started on the is badge hunting malarky and started off with the easy options ie routes, only got the London PRL full, 5 of the longest ones in Watopia and lots of short ones in the Makuri islands, 2 of the Innsbruck left, done the rest . Not done 25 laps of the volcano cct yet or the 10+25 times on the climb portal or 10+ 25 times on Alpe du Zwift.
I am filling in time till my weight got really down ( which is now stuck and I seem to be putting weight on) so I was then going to re-enter races. I have not been racing as now I am right at the bottom of cat C and its a bit disheartening just trailing in at the back.
I went to enter over 60's race and was at the bottom of that as well.

Doubt I would ever even try a race. I am a plodder with weak legs due to lower back/sciatic problems over the years. I mostly just pick a route and do it at whatever pace I feel up to on the day. Some days just gentle zone 2 heart rate, other days if I feel a bit better I might have a go at the sprints. I do some of the lower pace group rides occasionally or one of the slower robo pacers. I'm doing the Tour de Zwift, both cycling and running, but just pick the shorter routes and stay at the back.

I'm enjoying it though which is the main thing

Yes it is a Zwift phenomona the way you go from say a Cat D hero to a Cat C minnow overnight, which helps to explain why many people sandbag to stay in lower Cats.

Have you tried the Zwiftracing.app races? They have much more graded categories so you race more people near your level. @alex_cycles is the expert in these.

That will be me in a few weeks once I get myself out of D, although at the moment I'm barely mid table in D so may be more than a few weeks until I'm C again haha .... then it will be the long slog in C to get myself back into contention.

I also suffer from recurrent sciatica, usually brought on for my by running. It’s a right pain (excuse the pun). Very debilitating and depressing too. I’m a glutton for punishment though as I keep going back to running and I find that cycling helps relative the sciatica.

Landed back last Tuesday, did a test spin on Wednesday evening to see how i feel - all was fine, woke up Thursday morning to the worst viral infection in a long time.

I got home from Tenerife late on Saturday night. Endured the usual 45 minute wait for luggage to offload at Belfast International Airport ( there was only 1 plane just landed so it’s not like the baggage ground crew was overworked 🤔) Home by 2am. Felt grand. Didn’t wake on Sunday apart from an hour in the evening feeling all woozy and soo soo tired. Monday was a bit better. Today was okish but this evening I’ve taken a turn for the worse and back in bed and only 8pm when I should be ZRL’ing. 😞

All in all, I had a good weeks training – 10 hours on the bike including the 2.5hr cycle up to Teide base (Hotel Paradores) ….And another interesting 31 minute climb (30ish hairpins ) near Adeje on a different day - some little whipper snapper Remco has the KOM of 19 minutes.

Also got in lots of running walking and Hiking. Hopefully I’m back feeling ok soon so I don’t lose the benefit of the week too 😰
