Stage 5 FRR done , 30km of flattish roads 4 sprints which I contested to stay in touch with the front group . Then a cruise to the bottom of the Alpe. What followed was 74 mins of a slow death . Started the climb 13th finished 18th . 2.6w/kg for 2.12 .

Well done, great result. That will have promoted your GC position :okay:

Stage 4 done…a fair bit slower than I would have liked. Lost main group on first snapper. Fell off a smaller group on the second. The third? You get the picture. Reeled in 30 or so on the KOM but still slow. Legs just about coping but lower back is a bugger. Will see how it is tomorrow. Would be a real disappointment to drop out. Really enjoying the bants and camaraderie on the rides.
How was it for you Pete and Phil?
Well I have just bailed on the FRR Tour. Got to the Alp with Del but my back told me one more revolution of the pedals and it would mess me up. Who am I to argue with my back. Legs are happier too 😁
Del was going great👍
Stage 4 FRR done ,I will call it death by leg snapper . Dumped the disc wheels for deep section zip 808 who knows if it made a difference , fatigue kicked in tonight , Steady start then all hell broke lose up the leg snapper I blew up just before the top and was disappointed with a 1min 3 ,just lost the front group, just got back on as the sprint kicked off never saw the front again , cruised until a group caught me had a 2nd go at the snapper 3 secs slower gave up segment chasing and just cruised in the bunch to the KOM . Just went into survival mode and paced it didn't lose or gain any places , 30th in Cat 2.6w/kg .
Tomorrows stage is just 4 sprints and a small lump called alpe de something ,

Stage 4 was an absolute nightmare for me. I was completely empty after the snappers and sprints. The stage broke me and I couldn't hold 3.4W/kg up the KOM. I got more sleep the night before but the chronic lack of good rest caught up with me.

Stage 5 was much better. I really took it easy on Friday and had a very good night sleep. I did all the sprints, but at a conservative pace, and had enough to hold 3.9W/kg up the Alpe. It feels good to have the hardest one now behind me.

Shame about the injury, @bobinski. Like others said - definitely better to listed to your body if it feels serious. Hope you get back to full strength soon.

Brilliant results, @13 rider. How do you feel about tomorrow?

He was going great.

Then I blew up on the 2nd bend. I worked really hard but was 8 minutes outside my PB on the Alpe.

Nothing left today after yesterday’s race at Innsbruck. First half much as you said. Contested the sprints but mainly to stay in touch. Felt ok at the base of the Alpe, but the rest was just agony!

Excellent work! The end is in sight, albeit behind a few lumps, one of which appears to be about to erupt

Well, when you pulled away from me on the Alpe at 3.8w/k i may have inwardly expressed some dissapointment

Just checked, my last 18(!) rides of any type have all been races, with the one before that a fairly steady climb portal effort and the majority crits. That can't be good for base stamina...

Very time crunched at the minute so usually just picking a race that happens soon and will be over quickly. Wonder how long before power takes a nose dive

One of the things I like about IndieVelo if you want a race in 10 minutes, set one up, race the bots and have a blast...

@Whorty I think you will love the IndieVelo elimination races once you get back into things. It's pure surge and recovery intervals. Made for you.
I set this one up today. Just 10 laps of the velodrome. Balls out effort for 6m30 against the bots.
