Remove the HRM unit and wear the strap in the shower after your ride to wash it - hang out to dry :okay:

I wear the whole thing in the shower then hang up to dry.

I have a good thing going with Garmin. Buy a new strap —> strap breaks within 2 years —> phone garmin —> garmin sends me a new one —> rinse and repeat.

Been going 5 years with this now

Is your heart monitor a wahoo by any chance Andy?

Yes it is? It has been extremely reliable. I think it's 7 years old. The original strap failed after a year. I bought a Garmin strap and it has worked fine apart from several batteries. This time I had to scratch the contacts to get a good contact

I do think the older Wahoo monitors are better than the new ones.
The last wahoo I had lasted 3 weeks before I had corroded contacts and the replacement ended the same way.
Bought the Garmin, so far so good but is pricy so nice to know Bridgy’s recommendation for next time!

Does everyone else lick the pads before putting it on? Just me, then? My wife says it's gross...

I wet them with any bodily fluid I can find
