I just Been Niled (N.ile the super lightweight climber on zwift ). I have just done the zwift hill climb club up box hill where just the Kom time counts . So unlike most I cruised to the bottom then went for it , Not many behind me so I could see N.ile was 3 mins down at this point ,despite me doing 3.2w/kg up the climb for a new Pr of 9.37 and getting 2nd in C cat N.ile beat me too the top in 6.16 . He was averaging 6w/kg up the climb and came past me doing a causal 8.3w/kg . I did beat him on the downhill though 😂 gravity was in my favour this time not sure he was trying though

IRL, however, he was pretty much nowhere in the open hillclimb my brother promoted a few weeks ago...

Two weeks off after my sportive which got the better of me. Raced the current Tour of Watopia stage 2

Lungs were burning, legs held on. Finished 9th against a bunch of younger riders. Pleased with that. Wrist felt ok as long as I didn't stand up

Maybe Zwift's kinematics doesn't replicate IRL performance for very tiny riders? For reference, in the Zwift Hill Climb Racing Club events, Nile did 6:32 on the Volcano (Matt did 6:41, I managed 6:54 with a 5min PB of 404W).

A date in the diary for northwestern Splitters; on Sunday 29 October is the National Hill Climb Championship, this year being held on The Struggle (from Ambleside to the Kirkstone Pass in the Lake District). There should be a full field of 450 riders starting at 30s intervals, so it'll be a massive event! My brother's been practising on FulGaz and says it's brutal.

Here's some great footage from last year's event on the Old Shoe climb near Wrexham:

I’m going up with Matt on the Saturday to check out the climb, then ride up on Sunday to spectate and enjoy the madness (with my cowbells!). The road is closed to traffic from 8am.

He is correct! Done it a couple of times with my local club, problem is that most of the members say that "I've done it once, and have no need to do it again!", so I have to wait until we get a bunch of new victims ... ( Members, Tony! Members! You can't refer to the newbies as victims ;) ) before I do it again. ... FWIW I think it's somewhat easier than Great Dunn Fell, which used to have an annual TT, but it's been a good few years since that has run.

Tonight's ZRL TTT from the Splitters B Cat team. I think this went about as as well as it could with the team we had - well done guys. And thanks for a tough but (mostly!) fun ZRL season
