Always a tiny bit suspicious when there's no Strava account linked and no IRL profile picture...

He does look pretty small, but he doesn't really look as if he's putting in a huge amount of effort (from what we can see of his body). Maybe he's on Carl's Wattbike? ;) Or maybe he's just a really strong A rider who's miscategorised by the Zwift system because he's little?

I'm going with both!

Heeeey, FRR finally got their own jersey:

Not easy to get.

By the way, the weekly series has concluded and website updated in preparation for Tour of France. Will be posting more about that tomorrow.

So this morning, I did something I’ve never done before: I quit a Zwift race! Just didn’t have any top-end zip in my legs, and got dropped by the turbocharged As halfway round the first lap of Central Park. Settled on doing a high-cadence workout instead, and hit 185rpm at the end 🤪

If you do it for fun and it stops being fun, it makes perfect sense to quit. I've only done it a couple of times myself.
Once was a few months ago on a C race non-CE two laps of Mech Isle Loop. We got infiltrated by Bs and I was completely toasted after lap 1 at frantic pace, so I decided "that's enough".

If I'm not going so good, but still have riders around me to race, I will continue. I just want to have some competition wherever that lay in the event

OK, Everyone. A bit more info on the FRR event. I'm quoting the full email further below, but here's the basics:

1. Start on 21 October. 8 stages: 4 days, rest day, 4 days. 5 time slots to choose: 06:00 / 10:30 / 13:00 / 18:30 / 02:30. GC to use eGAP system (more info in the rules - link in the quote below), which I found absolutely brilliant.

2. 9 different rider categories with Race Control keeping a watchful eye on any outliers. GC, KOM and sprint classification.

3. If you already have an account on the FRR website, all you need to do is: log in and make sure the 'France' box is ticked in your profile. If you don't have an account yet - it's very simple to set one up, feel free to ping me if you have any difficulties.

4. If you sign up - you can ride any number of events - all of them or just one. Have a look at the schedule (link in the quote below), some real 'fun' courses on there. Registration closes on 20th.

Tour France kicks off on October 21st, poster and rules link below along with the schedule for the full Tour - this is Series 3 so its had the benefit of 2 years of evolution plus a whole summer of events to test new processes to benefit the Tour - below summarises some key points;
  • Events remain Private
  • Riders must register on the FRR site to be included and to ultimately obtain event passes
  • 5 racing times to pick from using a single racing pen
  • Events are iTT and Points
  • 9 rider classifications
  • GC uses eGAP (Event time gap)
    • Ranking riders by their time difference to their event class winner - refer to rules
  • Team, Sprinter, Polka dot competitions
  • Best 8 scoring riders from each Team to count for Team score each stage
  • Smaller Teams can combine
    • Refer to Team Loan or FRR Legion options in the rules
  • Teams can have unlimited riders
  • Low level of Team management required
  • Resulting is fast and upgrades applied immediately

FRR Tour Series 3 Full Schedule

Rider classification
setting is much simpler, new riders will alway start higher but we will review anyone who asks. In race it is mandatory to include the riders FRHC in their Zwift App name as we can now check for this - riders who do not receive a 10% time penalty - Why - with eGAP riders need to know who their direct competitors are… we have a Race Day menu option that shows who is in the race from a FRR viewpoint.

Our Discord server is lively and supportive and its where we communicate all news and updates first FRR Discord

The Series is the hardest and fairest on the platform (not all my words) as many of you know - if you could cascade within your Club information boards that would be appreciated and hopefully we will see you again.

One last point, during the summer the Climb Portals appeared we developed a section to allow riders to upload their times to build a Leaderboard everyone is welcome to add their times and see where they rank, albeit they will need an FRR account.

Have fun.

Is that the one with the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse plus the 25% extra FREE?

I was considering the Bologna iTT until I looked at the distance and realised it's TWO LAPS.
Having done that in DRS SoC, I'm not in a hurry to repeat the experience.
