Won't be long until the next WTRL ZRL starts, do we have enough people back on zwift for B and C teams?

I probably won't be doing ZRL (think there may well be a DRS instead), but it is interesting the changes they have floated.
CE without the 90-day thing
2 scratch races, 2 TTTs and 2 points races - probably using the new zwift racing number (for SBP groups?)
Also they can't properly decide on "steering or not" but looks like "not" with possibly an extra/different league for steering.

Also, I'm back in C for a bit now as my zMAP went below 4.1  That probably won't survive the next hard 6 minute climb though.

I'll try and test your B cat Zmap in the tinies this morning.

I don't think any B riders went down to C so we should have all the usual suspects. If anything, I can see people putting in the hours, so we should have a strong squad.

I haven't really followed any ZRL news. When does it start and what's the score with the segment battle thingy?

Starts 12th September, no mention of segment battle points so I assume they have been shelved.

I'm still in C and only getting 1-2 40 min rides a week so I'll likely be borderline

I will probably miss the first season @mjd1988 as I’m hoping to maximise the outdoor riding but having said that with the weather we have been getting this “summer” I might be tempted indoors sooner than planned.

I’m haven’t been keeping up to date with the zwift news other than I’ve seen the climbers portal gateway thingamy and am guessing the category system has been overhauled but I haven’t a clue in detail on how it works or where i would sit relative to where I was before.

My outdoor training has been going well and going by my numbers it would put me at just over 4.0wkg. I might actually be competitive in Cat B again after 2 winters of my fitness going backwards.

Are there any quick guides on the categorisation system?

One of my buddies was there and roads were clear but 8ft snow drifts
That would be cool. I’ve seen some of the roads near the summit badly damaged presumably by frost action but that was some years ago.

Last time I was there was in July with temps up in the high 20s / low 30s and it was just too warm to enjoy the climb up from the coast. All being well I’ll do some structured workouts early morning and be back for breakfast with she who must be obeyed. I’ll use any brownie points I have to get a couple of longer spins up the hill. ☺️

All the roads on top of Teide were completely resurfaced the last time I was there. Hopefully they have held up.

Once you get above a 1000 metres, the temps begin to come down, so start early to beat the coastal temp rise, hopefully get a cooler ascent.

Well picking the C team is going to be interesting. We've obviously lost Alex and Martin from last season, Carl keeps on sabotaging his own trainer and I'm going to be away for races 2, 3 and 4, so numbers might be a little on the short side, plus we're still in the top division so there could be a few races where we're going to get hammered.

No real indication whether they'll use the race score....I think they probably won't for the first series back, I feel like it hasn't been road tested and would be a nightmare, and they've had their fingers burnt trying and failing to be innovative. Could be wrong though!

12 September?! That's quite soon. I think we should try and get organised. I'm definitely available, and still a B.

Sounds like @IrishAl is hoping for spots of summer on Tuesday evenings. Is your subscription active?

@bridgy, @Girafitti, @Rich A, @Ketty?

@alex_cycles, @Norry1 - I think you said you prefer going to bed early?

Who did I miss? Any friends and family members we could lean on?

I'm expecting to be doing a 1030 race on Tuesdays, which will either be DRS (if they're doing it) or ZRL in Atlantic/Pacific or whatever they're calling it. So doubtful I would be available in the evenings. But I will let you guys know if that changes. At the moment I'm eligible for C but not expecting that to last very long.

My subs is inactive and will be scrimping and saving for as long as possible. I’m enjoying the outdoors - even the wind and rain - the only variable left will be the dark evening and morning creeping in. I’d say it will be the mid- October before I’ll be back. Open ofcourse to sponsorship offers though 😂😂

Thanks @mjd1988. So it looks for now it’s still the old zwiftpower system?

That could push me into A! I’ve been there before - scraped in and suffered like many low A/BC riders. Given were I was 18 months ago I’d be stoked if I make it. I might be back earlier than planned Pete 😂😀

@Peter Salt you were up to A at the end of spring weren’t you iirc?
