You're much more experienced in setting these up, Steve, but all those technical nuances was the reason why I proposed to do 2 laps of the Jungle without the lead in.

Presumably, we would then just need to make sure that whatever distance we set, covers at least 2 full laps, and have the 'meetup only view' enabled? Event time would be just a sum of two lap times taken from the Strava segment.

This would eliminate any differences in spawn location and all that jazz.

It Sounds much easier just to stick with one main event set up as a CC race at the usual time of 7pm Thursday - everyone get set up on TT bikes. Less confusion as to the randomness of spawn point, Strava segments etc.

My original thing was that I wanted as many people as possible to take part, knowing that not all of us can make the same times.

Now I suppose I could set up multiple Club races - we'll assume that most people are going to do the Thursday one as that way they've got more people to pace themselves against, but then anyone who can't make that day/time can ask me to set up another and we'll try to get everyone else to agree on when any later events should happen.

I'm happy to set up 3 or 4 events, but obviously don't really want to have to set 15 up cause everyone wants a slightly different time! Also this means anyone masochistic enough to want to do it a second time (or if they didn't set a good time on their first go) can give it another whirl.

I have heard a rumour that you can turn drafting off for Club events via a hidden menu, so I can investigate that as well. If true, it means we can use gravel bikes, otherwise we have to do TT bikes in the dirt.

Thanks for all the great advice on racing. I have to research that more thoroughly. Great to hear I'm too young for at least one master's series ;)

Had my bike fit today. Took 4h. Really good experience. They sorted me out with a pair of wonderful cycling-specific insoles that seemed to have done wonders with issues I've been having with my feet since forever - will need some time to get use to them though.

Was shocked when the chap told me that everything else is pretty much spot on - saddle height, fore, aft, reach, etc. I guess 1.5 years of trial and error gets you in the right ballpark. I was recommended 38cm handlebars and shorter cranks if I ever change them, and advised against an increased Q-factor pedals - all based on my biomechanics.

Apparently, I have one of the smoothest pedalling techniques that they've ever seen  To a point where the guy called his friends to show them my graphs and asked if they ever seen anything like this. Felt a bit like a freak for a moment

Tough course for a TTT - with all the up and downhill sections, power, and weight differences, I imagine it's a nightmare to keep a neat formation. The results looked really tight. Good going Lads.

On another note: I don't know how often anyone visits the classifieds, so just linking here, in case one of you has what I need: https://www.cyclechat.net/threads/shimano-ultegra-6800-cranks-exchange-for-a-different-size.291006/

On another, another note: Probably doing the 18:30 3R race today. Nice mass start for all categories.

So it's a bit late now to do anything about a Splitters race/iTT for this Thursday, so here's my plan:

I'll set up a Club event for both Tuesday 28th and Thursday 30th, provisionally at 7pm (though this can be changed if there is demand for a slightly different time). You can join either of them or indeed even both if you wish, as your best result across all rides will count.

Then for anyone who can't make either of those two, I'll leave it open on this thread for you to tell me what times you CAN make and I'll pick the most popular from those and add a third event (maybe even a fourth, but no more than that) to cover as many bases as I can. And there are no times that are off the menu - if there's enough people who want a Friday midday option for example, then I have no objection to setting that up.

Brilliant! Have you managed to switch off drafting or do we have to select TT bikes?

Tuesday and Thursday Club events have been created. Join through the Club as usual or use the links below:

Tuesday 28th @ 10:30am: https://www.zwift.com/events/view/3632415
Tuesday 28th @ 7pm: https://www.zwift.com/uk/events/view/3622644
Thursday 30th @ 6:30pm: https://www.zwift.com/uk/events/view/3622658

Remember, if you can't make any of those times, please let me know what would be a suitable date and time next week for you (can be any time of day, doesn't have to be an evening; can also be at the weekend if that's easier). Then I will look at what's popular and add some additional events.
