I guess I need to set up a workout where I'm riding at 380W for 8 minutes and see if I can survive it first! That's a big, big ask! (my 5 min CP best is 384W in a LaGuardia race)
That would be best but I reckon would require a lot of trial and error to time the sections to perfection - a few seconds delay on upping the power on the hill would cost you dearly.
You can set the intervals long and then manually skip to the next one, if there are appropriate landmarks to do so. That requires some presence of mind, though! I've got a constant-power AdZ workout with an over-long warmup that I just skip to the end of when I get close to the startline.

Ha! Shows what I know - I never did a workout, y'know

For what it's worth, I've put in your numbers into BBS and this is what it spat out:

Yeah, but that depends on being able to actually do the 380W!
It's all very well to assume that the physiological cost is the same for two rides of the same average power. I could ride 20 minutes at 250W with barely breaking a sweat, but if you asked me to ride for 10 minutes at 100W, then 10 minutes at 400W...

Yes, of course it's not the same. And as you say: Purely theoretical. I for one remember that TT effort back in September as probably one of the deepest digs I've ever done. It felt like if the stage carried on for another 100m I would completely explode.

So I just need to go sub 20.40 to take the lead then 😂

@Whorty can relax 23.09 for me . That's a tough tough circuit. Managing hanging on to the front group relatively easily for 1.5 laps then a burrito bomb (6 to 8) went off in the middle of the pack and it split the group and I was the wrong side . Andy stay near the front . Hung on to the next group for about 60th (45th on zwiftpower)

due to a nasty cold that won't quite go away i've had to do a lot more zone 2 efforts than i'd generally like, although it is actually not as annoying as i thought it would be!

I do find it physically impossible not to go for at least one sprint though which probably isn't a good idea

It's fine if you leave it till the end - I do that quite often myself. 1 - 1.5h of Z2 and then a few short smashes followed by a cooldown.

I had nearly 3 weeks off with a chest infection. Did a couple of easy spins, but mostly weights down the gym.

3 races since coming back, legs fresh, and even pushed (just) into B numbers on the Scot crit yesterday. Amazed myself, but a bit of rest when not feeling great really helped

Any more crits and I'll be joining you boys in B for good!
