Previous posts of mine may have alluded to the fact I’m more of a dog than a cat man. But when it comes to getting rid of un welcomed guests of the rodent variety they really do come into their own.
We had a family of mice in our place that lasted all of about 30 minutes once they’d made their presence known.

Our cat is very good at catching mice. Not very good at landing the killing blow though. She will catch them in a nearby field, bring them into the house in her mouth, yowl loudly to show off their catch, mouth opens, mouse escapes and runs under the fridge/cooker/washing machine/whatever makes them nearly impossible to get at again.

Can back up the assertion that a blob of peanut butter in one of those "humane" mousetraps (they don't look particularly humane to me!) is the definitely the right bait to recapture however - it hasn't failed for us yet.

I had a bit of an off yesterday. Was planning to ride from mine to the in-laws approx 80km away but crashed less than 20km from home!

Luckily a cyclist stopped in their car and insisted on taking me home. Really nice chap, he said someone drove him home a few years ago so I think he might have been waiting for an opportunity to help someone out.

It was a bit of a silly one and thankfully didn’t involve anyone else. Where the roads have been so heavily gritted recently, the bike slid out from under me on a patch of loose grit/salt that had collected. Reckon I was probably doing approx 15mph but hit my face quite hard. New bike has got its first scratches 😫

I’m a little beaten up down one side - face, shoulder, elbow, knee.

I will have the indignity of being asked about it and having to explain on numerous zoom calls next week!

Expecting to be back on the turbo mid-week 👍

Ouch. Gravity wins eventually. Almost always "a silly one". Check your helmet for cracks if you wore one. I had an off-road off in the summer where the helmet was cracked in four places, but was hard to spot without a magnifying glass.

Ooof bad luck mate hope you’re not too sore.

I know it’s a bit of a cliche question but (genuinely), how’s the bike?

It’s fine thanks @<Tommy> - some scratches but only to pedal/derailleur/hoods. Nothing major and no frame damage 👍

@alex_cycles yes I think I might replace the helmet this time. It’s had a couple of “little knocks” now and a few years old. Plus the Mrs is encouraging it so won’t miss the opportunity 😝

Ouch. Hope it heals fast.

I went off the previous weekend. Even sillier - just a slippery roundabout - no salt or sand involved.

Road rash already gone and can sleep on both sides for a few days now. Winter jacket needs a small patch. I need to find a funny one.

I was on the CX bike so no one will notice a few new scratches

My GF encouraged a new purchase after that as well. A pair of helper wheels!

Good plan. Reminds me I must finish the paint job on the replacement helmet I bought as it's time to go outside again
(First road bike ride of the year today).

Ouch - heal up soon Nick. I’ve had 3 offs within half a mile of home - twice on ice and once on gravel. I’ve since moved house and been ok since 🤞

I nearly joined you in the 'off brigade ' a few days ago - went down the disused railway line , over a wooden bridge and front wheel went down in-between the slats , luckily it got kicked out by the cross member before I lost balance . rode all the way home thinking cor that was lucky
