Some people probably thinks that they are masterminded and they can cheat the system but finally they are stumble their own cleverness/stupidity. If the gain is that you can have sponsors, viewers/subscribers (more publicity) etc. You can also lose all those and also reputation as a bonus if you had any, especially if you are pro rider.

I do Alex. I don’t get it at all. But I see it. Doping is rife in amateur bike racing. They just don’t have the funding or infrastructure to catch it. Often middle aged men, prepared to put their health jeopardy taking EPO for zero financial gain. There’s always going to be people prepared to cheat given the opportunity. And often for very little reward if any on offer.

There’s a sliding scale really isn’t there? A sliding scale of ethics if you can call it that? This guy is at the extreme end maybe. Or maybe the drug cheats are. At the other end you have completely honest people. Then in between you have the weight dopers, the sandbaggers etc etc etc. Why do people do any of this stuff. I guess we all draw our own ethical line right?

I guess we do. I mean, realistically it seems a bit sad to me. But then, to most of the world, the whole idea of cartoon bike racing probably seems a bit sad. So it's all relative innit?

Dunno, everyone should have at least one hobby I reckon! Then there’s always people on the side line who like to try and turn their nose up at it. But you shouldn’t feel you have to answer to people why you enjoy the things you enjoy. And you should be able to do it without people being allowed to ruin it by cheating.

People cheat at everything basically given the chance, is my conclusion. It’s rife in chess, scrabble etc. you name it, they cheat at it basically!

Gym I go to steroids is derigure... fecks up the body, no gain apart from looks (if you want to get that ripped), and yet quite a few do it. So I cam certainly see why cyclists do epo.

Everyone is motivated by something. So long as they're not harming me, those I love or anyone else, I couldn't give 2 fecks what others do.

On zwift I race against those similar to me .... how they are similar is actually not that important

Sure, I can see that. I can certainly see why you’d take that stance.

But then you have other people, who want to compete against people on a level playing field. And it’s not really fair for them is it.

It’s not life or death of course. Just principles.
