How did the first ZRL race of the new season go for you guys in team CCC? Did you get promoted I can't remember?
We were already in the top division of C so had nowhere higher to go! Our promotion to there happened in the last round of last season (Apr/May 2022).

I've hit a milestone which I should have had a long while ago. 1000W+ 15 sec sprint in a race ^_^ Need to work on my pathetic 1 min power

Nice one Andy 👏. According to Zwiftpower I can't even hit 900w for 15 seconds and would really like to improve my sprint. It has improved a bit, but if I could get it up to 1,000w I think I could do much better in ZRL races which are so often sprint dominated. My 1 minute and 30 second power is relatively better and that's why I think I do OK on the short punchy climbs copared to the flat sprints.

By the way, what did people think of last night's course? I thought it was a really good race route myself with a lot of variety. And with two medium climbs at the start and finish, an uphill sprint/KOM and two flat sprints it had a bit of something for everyone

I had a funny race. Stayed with the front pack up the first climb and enjoyed a really long supertuck recovery. 10th place up Aqueduc with a new PR. Then got dropped after the Pavé sprint, waited for @Whorty and some others came along and enabled us to catch up with the front group. Ignored the Marina sprint and went balls-out up the final climb for 4th :wahhey: 0.4s behind 3rd. Came about as close as you can get to getting promoted though. 3rd place guy is now a B.

Re sprints, I wish Zwift would put a marker on the map so you know where they start. I could have easily shaved a second off my times if I was rolling into the sprint with alot more speed. I literally went when I saw the green line and still got a decent result.

That's why we do charts, so we know when things are coming up ^_^ But yeah the profile mapping in Zwift is utter crap.

I did a French course last night myself and it sounds similar to the wrtl one. I thought it was just the petit kom at the end but it was in the lead in too right at the start. It suprised me there was 150 runners seeing as it was on league night which was very pleasing. Often it seems A cat races are undersubscribed. But this one had all the cats starting at the same time so a goos field. I came 9th on the road, 6th in A cat, and I was with the leaders until the end so all in all I felt pretty good afterwards.

It was "Roule ma Poule" - not a course I've raced before. Starts with a circa 6 minute climb up the Petit KOM pretty much straight from the pen (but not a segment), then has Aqueduc KOM, quickly followed by a flat sprint, and later another flat sprint followed by up the Petit KOM again to the finish

Yep, that's the same course :okay:. I guess your race was raced slightly differntly without needing to attack the sprint segments?

Well done on the result though mate - I can see that final climb really suiting you!

Yeah I’d imagine so!

The aqueduct is a segment you can almost not notice if it’s not a prime. But if it is, there’s a chance of getting dropped as it’s almost harder to latch back on as it is to try and sit with the sprinters.

It’s an undulating course though isn’t it. More undulating than I thought it looked on zwift insider anyhoot. The pace was high throughout my race. There’s people constantly trying to go off the front at really high w/kg so it had more of a relentless feel to it than a wtrl where people often sit up between primes. But the undulation meant there was a bit of downhill for mini breaks, which helped me charge the battery a little for the final climb.
