On a side note, and it goes back to what @berty bassett was alluding too earlier I think. I think the category system can really stifle fitness gains.
It’s totally up to the individual what they want to get from zwift. If you care more about ‘winning’ a race than fitness progression, then at present you can easily game the system to race in a category lower than your true level.
From what I can make out this new system makes it a lot tougher to sand bag. So ironically even though the sandbaggers might fight against it in principle. It should make him / her generally fitter as a consequence. As they’ll be racing in tougher races and reap the reward of that.
Winning isn’t always crossing the line first…
Totally this ... as I said earlier I think, there are some C riders (and I'm sure B too) that win every race they enter and yet stay firmly in the C boundary limit. They cruise for 99% of the race, then outsprint everyone with 15 w/kg sprints lol They tend to pick flatter courses so (and I could be wrong) I think they will still be able to game the system as they don't work that hard in races.
It's all evolving though and that has got to be good for racing on Zwift ... cat enforcement has to be a good thing.
I try to pick 3R races where I can as all cats are visible ... so whilst I'm in 'C' I'm racing everyone so pushing as hard as I can from the off.
