I’m back to Blighty tomorrow early morning. It’s been really nice where we are. In fact even though you got your wires crossed @Del C id highly recommend you having a look at the Vercors region in the future I’d never heard of it before but there’s so many rides here it’s really great.

Riding with Bob, Dean and Lee was great fun as always of course. Considering how little riding Dean has put in he was in really great shape. And now of course him and lee are of to d’huez for another few days riding.

It’s was quite tough with the weather. I think I’ve already mentioned how little long rides I’ve done this year. So riding every day has been challenging as much as anything else. Not in bad trim off the back of it though!

Not sure about the glasses! 😄. I think cyclops probably pulls it off slightly better…

Hopefully I can sustain or improve a bit over the summer now. Try and chisel a bit of time out of my schedule for some longer rides during the week.

Glad people came back safe. For those that carry on or just went: It's a scorcher! Watch yourself :okay:

So jealous. Although I'd prefer 17 degrees (I actually love our crap climate)

Posted on the main training board but anyone any cycling book recommendations? Looking at time crunched cyclist and middle aged cyclist or something of that ilk to help a bit with training. I know there are a lot of Joe friel books people recommend as well?

The Hour by Michael Hutchinson.

I once raced against him ( or to be more precise he was in a 25 mile TT with me & lots of others, I did manage my PB that day though - 1:00:46 )... 👍

This book isn’t cycle specific. But for me at least it cut through a lot of the BS around diet and training.

Not pretty mate, not pretty. Long story cut short is that there was a level crossing on the route, it's been closed for the past 2 weeks but the organisers somehow missed that. We got there (I was with the front group :becool:) and there was no marshal/official, signs or anything. Rural area, no other roads, we had to backtrack over 10km and then find an alternative route to reach the next checkpoint. The alternative was on a dual carriageway. Two lanes, lorries going past at 56mph - loved it. Got off the dual carriageway, called recovery, we went to the pub. Stake and ale pie with a bit of cider helped ;)

Be extra prepared for the Yorkshire Beast next week @Ketty as it's the same organisers. I don't think they check the routes properly which beggars belief.

Taking it easy next week and then starting squat+sprint training on Zwift - much safer and less frustrating!:laugh:

Thanks for this and sorry to hear about your situation. I had a friend do it yesterday and he seemed to have no problems that I can see? Maybe they amended the course and he was later than you.

I know the route next week in my head and as such will check the aa route planner 👍🏻👍🏻

You've lost your excess weight at the right time in life Tommy. 👍

What I mean is it's far easier than trying to do weight control and muscle building whilst still in your prime-relatively😁
