Not pretty mate, not pretty. Long story cut short is that there was a level crossing on the route, it's been closed for the past 2 weeks but the organisers somehow missed that. We got there (I was with the front group
) and there was no marshal/official, signs or anything. Rural area, no other roads, we had to backtrack over 10km and then find an alternative route to reach the next checkpoint. The alternative was on a dual carriageway. Two lanes, lorries going past at 56mph - loved it. Got off the dual carriageway, called recovery, we went to the pub. Stake and ale pie with a bit of cider helped
Be extra prepared for the Yorkshire Beast next week
@Ketty as it's the same organisers. I don't think they check the routes properly which beggars belief.
Taking it easy next week and then starting squat+sprint training on Zwift - much safer and less frustrating!
