Bugger, does this mean we will never see @mjd1988 on Zwift again?! ^_^

More likely I retire undefeated 😅

It was very good actually. I enjoyed the draft dynamic, as you can see by the w/kg you can hide a lot (and I attacked at one point as well so watts could have been lower) but you can also break free of the pack - it's more of a petrol effort whilst sometimes zwift can feel like the sky train is going the whole time so no one can ever attack/sprinters are too wrecked to sprint by the end.

Bit funny how you slingshot through the group but better than sticky watts. Would do it again. An uphill race would be very different, I'm sure I'll say it was totally crap after one of those.

Pete and Michael, how did you find it? Looking at my average watts of 291, I'd say that was definitely easier than a zwift race for that average power

Dip your toe into RGT...you might come to love it.

I did a race in RGT. I’ve no problem persevering. I think it’s a bit more clunky than zwift but it’s not a deal breaker. What’s stopping you joining us on zwift? The team thing has become really good fun and you’d be more than welcome bud.

The race I did it felt like the watts were more generous than zwift but I have no science to back it up. I did see a lot of people hitting massive w/kg which kind of raised an eyebrow at the time. If it’s consistent I guess it doesn’t matter.

I found it mega tough at the start as I had to full-on sprint for 30 secs to make it to the pack after I was detached out of the gate. But after that I found it relatively easy just sitting in the pack. I was surging/dropping for a bit until I got used to it but after a while was able to happily sit in there. As you mentioned earlier, I must have been doing something right as my overall watts were pretty low despite the early hammer.

The pack dynamics are definitely better than Zwift (well for the small pack we were in) and the sprint felt more realistic - I think a last 1km effort has a much better chance of succeeding than on Zwift and I think it makes for a more tactical finish if you're in the group at the end of the race.

It will be interesting to see how it goes with a hill or two thrown in. That course definitely suited me and @mjd1988, where we could hide pretty much until the end.

Yeah definitely easier in the draft. My heart rate was way lower for a race than it has been in a zwift race ever. Suits me as I'm essentially just waiting for an all out effort at the end, surprised not to see more attacks; would be interesting to see how that would play out.

Enjoyed the change but too early to say if I preferred the dynamics. Zwift still wins on numbers at the min though (exponentially)

Sounds like a school boy error by the Bkoolers to drag you to the finish without trying to drop you ... I bet they don't do that again

Good point Carl, but believe me, dropping either of those two is easier said than done!
Oh I agree :okay:

If you'd like to try it again in a few weeks we can pick any route you like. Any GPX file can be turned I to a ride. I don't think my Sitka rides have enough hills. Any suggestions?

I think it would be interesting to see a comparison of speed/power against a Zwift ride .... maybe one the guys have raced recently.

Waiting for weather to warm up a bit then off out in the real world

Mapped a couple of rides, and definitely looking at this either today or tomorrow. Top left of ride, where I loop back on myself is Cheddar Gorge. Never been up there before and didn't realise it was so close to where I live. Kamoot thinks this will be a 4 hour ride at an average of 26kph .... Nice target to aim at.

For anyone who doesn't know the area, the Glastonbury showing on the map is the Glastonbury :okay:

I'd love to ride Cheddar Gorge - I'll maybe do it this summer if I can find a local campsite.
If I'm still waiting to move house you can stay here .. but I'm hoping to move in the next 4-6 weeks if the legal eagles can sort their shyte out

You can see on the gradient graph where the Gorge climb is :surrender: And my long drag out of Mere at the start of the ride .... real leg sapper!
