Banter aside... it is about bloody time you came in from the cold mate!
Honestly - I really miss racing with you lot
But I would be bumped up again soon as I entered so waste of time
I do enjoy RGT though - it’s getting better all the time and getting to know a few rivals
It’s a shame that I can’t enter same cats as we had some really good battles

We are kind of of re introducing the scratch races. I don’t know if they’ll continue when the new racing league comes out. That would definitely get my vote but maybe some of the others prefer the ttt. Either way we have a race on Tuesday you could join if you’re free?

I’ve been thinking about the elevator trick a little since learning about it. What do we think of the ethics of springing up the elevator at unrealistic watts compared with the saw tooth technique to achieve unrealistic watts during a race?

I struggle to see the difference but the elevator trick seems to have been embraced here while saw tooth is frowned upon to say the least?

Discuss?
Totally different. The escalator thing is just for a few seconds and is similar to doing something like launching your TTT start straight from the pairing screen - a feature of the game to be exploited by "playing" the game well that's open to all. Both will only make very minor differences (if any) to race outcomes.

Saw tooth technique is something people do for an entire race, and gives people with a certain type of trainer or power meter a significant advantage over others - i.e. not open to all in the same way.

I did a second lap with both lads and they went three minutes faster around the same route! I was doing 6:20/mile pace at times and lagging way behind them. I used to be able to do an 18 minute parkrun but those days are well and truly in the past...

Joined the 11:45 Crit race today if anyone fancies a blast. I'm in C, but if some B's fancy a ride I can switch up and keep you company for the first 100 yards

Edit: wonder if I can push B numbers and get myself promoted?
Well, to answer that question ... no! Average 3.3 w/kg over 20 mins which is just inside C limits still (needs to be 3.4 w/kg as 95% is taken).

Interesting race, because even though it wasn't advertised as anti-sandbagging the ole green cones were a-plenty  The first one came after just 2 minutes, which was very funny, and they came thick and fast for the next 10 minutes

Settled down then as a group of about 10 of us - some B's and an A who was clearly waiting for the last lap to blow us all away. Well, he did ... we hit the 1 lap to go and he shot off, leaving us completely in his wake. He flew up the rollers and was pushing close to 7 w/kg for probably 30-40 seconds ... until he got the cone of shame  And our little band of riders caught and passed him.

I miss timed the finish again, missing the jump on the last 700 metres. Didn't have a power-up either, so ended up coming in 4th.

I really do like those crit races though, suits my style of blast up the little lump, then hang on for 2 minutes to do it all again.

Might struggle to make Tuesday’s meet up after all - will have some family matters to attend to straight after work. Still going to keep it marked as “attending” in the companion app just in case I can get back in time, but if I’m not on the start line, that’s why.
