Interesting conclusions. Seems like some people prefer it and some don’t.

I had a brief flirt with RGT a few weeks ago, and they’ve gone for a different approach to drafting. If you come up behind someone (so to speak). If your speed is sufficient then you continue past them. But if your speed speed is deemed to be insufficient by the algorithm, then you bump into the back of them. So in a way this is a different variation of the sticky draft / drafting issue on zwift.

That’s not really a criticism of either system. I guess for me it just shows that neither system, and probably any cycling software will ever be remotely similar to riding an actual bike. So it’s prob best to leave that expectation at the pain cave door. Or maybe that will change in time.

What about an alternative where all cycling avatar were completely solid? No way through other than steering around and into open space? I guess that’s very hard to create maybe? And it would mean if you were in the middle of a pack you’d be more trapped at times. It’d be closer to reality though? I think RGT are closer to this reality than Zwift. But I’m not sure it’s better for it.

@<Tommy> I only experienced it in a large group yesterday but the “washing machine” effect seemed different to me. My experience is somewhat at odds with @bridgy though.

I usually struggle to maintain a position “at the front but not on the front” and used to surge ahead without meaning to, backing off, then putting a bit of power down to stay in. The yo-yo effect as @bridgy described it. I personally found it easier to stay at the front without shooting ahead last night, which meant my power was more consistent to stay in the group and I felt fresher at the end of the race. So much so that I pushed the pace up the final slope and could have gone harder if anyone had followed, and I had a sprint to give which is not usually the case for me 🤷‍♂️

I might have just been on a good day, to be honest. Time will tell, I think.

I’m on Apple TV , will have a check later as it’s usually a few days behind on updates , might do a little recce race to test it out .

Same here. Now I’m thinking I’ll start using the laptop again if they’ve sorted the exit thing. That way I can try and record our races now Martin is taking a sabbatical. ‘Try’ might be the operative word!

Interesting to see that team captains/managers must keep a register of riders, and a max of 12 riders can ride for a team in each season.

Presumably that doesn’t stop riders from being registered for multiple teams in different leagues (I.e both 68 and 23 like @bridgy and I have done), but we should probably tread carefully so we don’t get caught out just in case!

@IrishAl and @Norry1 have stepped out of ZRL this coming season so will need a couple of riders to step up from 68 🙂

Yeah I think it's fine to ride for two teams (max) reading that as long as you on the roster.

Team 68 happy to help but the early time is a bit tricky for a lot of us. Maybe time for another recruitment drive?

Brendan at least may not be available in 68 now the weather is improving so not sure we have any spares.
