Season 3 race list out
5x scratch and 3x TTT
A fair bit more climbing in some of the courses, Surrey hills. 5 labs of cobbled climbs in Richmond.
I note that some of the courses are mentioned as having two distances for different divisons. I wonder if that is just Premier League that are doing the longer distances, or will it also be A & B I wonder (in which case, I'm glad I'm in C!)
Quick preview of each course:
Rd 1 - Douce France (TTT) - reverse of the RGV route we have already done as a TTT before. Suits the fast finishers better as the lumpy bit and the Aqueduc are out of the way earlier with the second half of the course being virtually flat.
Rd 2 - Beach Island Loop (Points) - strictly speaking a new course, but basically it's 3 laps of Volcano Flat Reverse with a short detour to send you through the sprint banner each time. One for the power riders.
Rd 3 - NYC KOM After Party (Points) - three laps of Gotham Grind (e.g. Park Perimeter but without the Harlem Hill bit), then up one long, shallow, glass road climb to the elevated level, before the actual steep, rampy KOM itself.
Rd 4 - Greatest London Flat (TTT) - our favourite course! This one should hold no surprises to anyone on here.
Rd 5 - Cobbled Climbs (Points) - Either five or three laps of Richmond without the flat bits! Three short steep climbs per lap, two of which will be primes. Could be brutal, especially as the 5 lap version is nearly 50km long.
Rd 6 - Champs Elysees (Points) - Six or four laps of Paris, fairly straightforward really. Primes are the slightly uphill sprints.
Rd 7 - Magnificent 8 (TTT) - Relatively flat course, only broken up by the Reverse Watopia Hilly KOM. Keep the team together over that and most of the rest of the course is in the desert, so you'll pick up speed to the finish.
Rd 8 - Surrey Hills (Points) - Hills, hills and more hills. Distances listed as 49km or 32km - think the first one is a typo, as one lap plus lead-in will be 44km (49km puts the finish halfway up the pre-climb before Leith Hill on lap 2). Even the shorter route isn't all that much relief as you still have to do all four KOM's; all you miss is the descent of Keith (you'll finish at the top), the Richmond Park bit and the second ascent of Fox.
