Did your little one enjoy it, @mjd1988 ?

Both of mine love being on the back of a bike. You’ll get used to having the weight there quite quickly. I also have a front rack to carry all the paraphernalia and tbh it took me longer to get used to having weight on the front!

She did! Weather a bit foul so only a quick run out. Weight is fine when moving but bit tricky when I first tried to get on it!

OMG @mjd1988, I just tried that LaGuardia Sprint Race (train your weaknesses, so they say...). All I can say is, f@@k me, that is hard!

Did some sprints at the end of my cool-down set and hit 1kW for the first time (yay!), but there was no way I could have lifted my effort in that race 🤪...

Pfft doesn't sound like you have a weakness at the minute! Well done

Well I think that video definitively proved that fitness trumps weight by some considerable margin, so none of us can complain about being disadvantaged by carrying a bit more weight, we just need to get fitter right? :okay:

You ever wonder how much fitter you can get Paul? I mean cardio wise?

Yeah I do wonder. I think I've had a decent - if not spectacular - level of cardio fitness for a few years now, so whilst there's undoubtedly improvements to be made, I think anything much more will be both relatively marginal and bloody hard work! I don't think I have the motivation and determination required to do what's needed to improve it much - same for the the weight loss I could potentially achieve too I suppose!

When I think of improving fitness I tend to think* about specific things like 1 or 5 minute power, or endurance, rather than overall cardio "fitness".

*thinking about it is usually as far as it goes though

Its really down to fitness, when you began riding to what level you may attain and a huge chunk of genetics

The Pro rider, obviously very gifted. Ollie an excellent amateur, probably near his physical abilities. The new rider showed significant improvement in matter of months with further riding, how far who knows.

Being heavier is a drag on hills
