Guys I’m going to repeat this one more time (promise). just Take it as a bit of fun. The time gaps are going to be 100% hit and miss. Either they favour you or they don’t. Do more than one race on the same course and they will improve.

Maybe you send your kids to a a school where they make sure everyone gets a medal even when they come last. That’s not the school I went to. Prepare to suffer and see where it takes you 👍👍
I hear Eton was a brutal school

OK so not the last HnH race then.

Have you got any suggestions for the time gap then? You just seem to be saying there was a race once where the time gaps were not in your team's favour (and a couple of others that were) - well, yeah that's happened to everyone at some point becuase there's so many variables.

I've explained my thinking behind the time gaps taking into account the segment times from the ZRL race, and now also taking into account the time gaps from our last race which worked pretty much perfectly and I can't see any reason to have a bigger gap than the one suggested. But if you want to suggest an actual time gap and your reasoning behind it I/we can take it into account....
The original times you came up with, based on segment times from the TTT, I was perfectly fine with. It's these last minute changes that are being suggested now because the top teams think there's a chance they might finish behind the weaker teams, which is what I don't care for.

Look, I'm a crap rider. I'm used to finishing last; that doesn't bother me so much. But I've got a statistical mindset and it just seems that tweaking the numbers cause they don't "look right" before we've even raced once doesn't sit well with me. If I turn out to be wrong and CCC win by a mile, even with a smaller head-start, I'll hold my hands up and say that I was causing a fuss over nothing and won't comment again on these sorts of discussions.

I think what everyone wants is a close finish Steve. I think it’s a little out of line to say one team is trying to make changes because they’re worried about losing. I’ve not got the impression anyone in #23 really cares either way. We’ve finished miles behind in the past and not complained so I don’t really know where that’s coming from to be honest. We just want to have a good race.

Can we just try and keep this fun!!

Shall we lock in @bridgy's suggested time gaps then and never mention them again (until 7:30pm) And then we can get back to posting interesting and informative posts what we are having for tea?

I'm having chilli. Now with my chillis I don't add kidney beans as they are evil. The wife once put baked beans in instead - that wasn't very nice either. I'll add mushrooms tonight. :hungry:

You are Pythagoras AICMFP.

I use these in my chilli, mixed with day-old ragout, leftover from spaghetti bolognese. And a sprinkle of ground cinnamon cumin and coriander. A few dozen turns of black pepper, and a teaspoon of chipotle paste. :okay:

OK Steve, noted. I will just say its not a matter of worrying we'll finish behind a "weaker team" it's simply wanting the race to be close and fun - I honestly don't care who wins, I just want a close finish with every team and rider having something to race for. If this one goes horribly wrong then you get free reign on setting time gaps for the next race we do

Let's see how this goes with the time gaps as follows which mean the B teams catch Team CCC with 500 metres of the segment to go if all go at the same speed as in the ZRL (which isn't actually likely - that's the big unknown!)

Team CCC - Start
Team 68 go at +3 minutes 15 seconds from start
Team 23 go at +4 minutes 15 seconds from start

Good luck all and have fun (this is meant to be fun :okay:)

Thanks for organising @bridgy

Looking forward to seeing 3 sprint trains in full gas with 500m to go :okay:
